About this experience
Meeting point and pick-up at the cruise terminal. The guided tour of Pompeii will last about 2 hours, here a flourishing civilization, buried for 1,700 years, has been brought to life again and where you can see how the citizens of the greatest empire the world has ever known lived. Entering Pompeii by the Sea Gate you will be guided first in the Forum, Pompei's main square, surrounded by temples, porticoes and law courts. 20,000 people lived in this provincial town, of which 2,000 perished in the horrifying eruption of Vesuvius in AD 79. Twenty feet of volcanic ash and pumice stone covered Pompeii. Much of this has been removed over the last 200 years to reveal the details of everyday life in Pompeii. In the second part of the day you will drive to Naples to visit the Archeological park of Baia, you will get a private boat to go to snorkel in the ancient Roman holiday resort that today is underwater! After the visit you will proceed back to the cruise terminal.

A positive and a negative experience
Pompeii nothing to criticize, very nice experience and I like ancient art I was very satisfied. Instead for Baia Sommersa negative experience, we boarded an old and noisy glass-bottom boat to see the Roman remains, but we saw absolutely nothing, only shadows of ancient stones that as they said was the Roman road submerged. They were neither professional nor made us understand almost nothing. Therefore Pompeii OK, Bay NO. This is all just from my own experience.
Response from the operator: Recensione che può anche essere condivisa. Peccato che il tour non è stato fatto con/da noi ! Questo tour non si può fare nei mesi invernali.

Exceptional
Extraordinary experience Maximum efficiency, as soon as you contact them they give you all the necessary information, help you and guide you in every step. Very serious, kind and cheap The guide who accompanied us very kind and very prepared. experience to repeat absolutely with them

Professionalism and availability
Although not our first time in Pompeii, the competence and availability of the guide allowed us to have information that we did not know and to extend the route to the most recent finds. We particularly appreciated the effort to make it easy to understand and keep interest high.
Response from the operator: "Abbiamo apprezzato particolarmente l'impegno per rendere facile la comprensione e mantenere alto l'interesse." Parole che renderebbero felice e orgogliosa qualsiasi guida turistica...

Sunken Bay
A truly unique and sensational experience aboard the cymba, the only boat with a windowed keel to show the beauties of the park. The ancient Roman city of Baia has sunk due to the bradyseism of the land and the remains of luxury, villas and the splendor of many villas now lie at the bottom. The excursion is strongly discouraged if you suffer from seasickness.

Fantastic day in a magìc place
We booked this tour not knowing what to expect, i mean yes the information given by Tour Gude Naples were pretty detailed but you know, it's never like in the pictures. I must say it was worth every cent. We first began our tour of Pompei with an amazing guide, the place is simply fantastic. But we were looking forward for our snorkeling experience, something no other company as far as i know provides. We reached Baia with a private van and were shocked to be in the middle of a beautiful beach even being so close to a big city (Naples). We had a briefing about the tour and some time to change our clothes, the guides there offered us the chance of using the wetsuit, much appreciated. We took our motorboat and in no time we could dive in that wanderful sea, escorted by a licenced scuba diver. He showed us amazing mosaics and roman ruins under the water (like a little atlantis) of what it was 2000 years ago the summer residence of the roman emperor. We lost the track of the time, it was super fun. An experience we will never forget. Greatly raccomanded.

Why this scores 55
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Pompeii Tour and Baia Snorkeling Underwater Private Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Naples.
How much does Pompeii Tour and Baia Snorkeling Underwater Private Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $300 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Naples usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Pompeii Tour and Baia Snorkeling Underwater Private Tour take?
+
Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Naples is not rushed.
Is Pompeii Tour and Baia Snorkeling Underwater Private Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 55 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Naples, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Pompeii Tour and Baia Snorkeling Underwater Private Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Pompeii Tour and Baia Snorkeling Underwater Private Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Pompeii Tour and Baia Snorkeling Underwater Private Tour?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Naples can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Naples and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Pompeii Tour and Baia Snorkeling Underwater Private Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Naples within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Naples?
+
On Outty we rank every Naples experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Full Day Private Amalfi Coast Tour from Sorrento/Naples/Salerno, Caserta Royal Palace & Gardens Small Group Tour with Shuttle, Naples Pizza and Tiramisu Cooking Class. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Naples?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Naples?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
