What you get

    About this experience

Meeting point and pick-up at the cruise terminal, departing from Naples you will pass Mount Vesuvius as you begin your coastal drive south to the ancient City of Pompeii, which is one of the most famous archeological sites in the world. Meet your private guide and start to walk through the streets, narrow lanes, passing by the red light district, stopping by Theaters and Baths of 2000 years ago. The next stop is the fabled town of Sorrento. This delightful town has a wonderful climate and views of Naples Bay. Take a stroll around the main square and explore the side streets. You will proceed along the Amalfi Coast to Positano, where a picture postcard comes to life - a patchwork of flat and domed roofs and vine-covered stairways tumbling down to meet the gentle curve of beach, which is dotted with brightly coloured fishing boats. Enjoy time at leisure to explore this elegant spot with its designer boutiques, shops, and seaside cafés. After Positano, return back to the cruise terminal.

Traffic made us miss a stop.

Unfortunately the traffic was horrible and we were unable to make one of our stops. The guide and bus driver did the best they could under the circumstances. Two things you can’t control- weather and traffic.

Unbelievable Tour of Pompeii! Ornella is the BEST!

We started with a driver who picked us up in a beautiful van and tailored the tour for us due to some traffic. It worked out just fine. The day ended with a tour of Pompeii with our guide, Ornella. Ornella is a brilliant woman, and her tour was extraordinary! We had a bit of a time constraint as we had to make it back to our ship by a certain time, and she was very careful to tailor the tour just for us. She showed us some fascinating things about the ancient city of Pompeii and we felt her tour was just what we were hoping for. Ornella remembered our names and cared for us while we were on the tour, and she was careful to point things out just because she thought we would specifically be interested about that thing. She even showed us some ancient "graffiti" in the city. "Wow!" is all I can say about Ornella and her tour - don't give it a second thought - book now! Thank you Ornella for bringing Pompeii to life for us - we will never forget it.

    Nice day!

Viator is wonderful to work with. They are knowledgeable about the sites they offer. Our driver and guide were professional, knowledgeable, personal, and fun to be with. A person in our group had had an injury and the driver was helpful in helping her navigate the sires. Comfortable vehicle.

    No positano so beware!

Booked this tour after reading the details of the trip. We were told that we could not stop in positano it was just on the detailed itinerary for photos only. I disagreed with that and was disappointed we didn’t go. Nit accurate information from either the driver or your company for sure! Certainly would not have booked tour if we’re not able to go to positano. We ended up in Sorrento which is ok but. It as nice as positano! We took a tour in Pompeii which was definitely the highlight of the trip. The tour guide was great!!

Response from the operator: Hello Sarah, we apologize because you did not go down to Positano pedestrian area, but the traffic was terrible that day and you enjoyed Sorrento so much that you decided to stop for lunch there, arriving one hour late at the meeting point, so we were obliged to give you two options: going down to Positano (more shopping) or going to Pompeii, you chose Pompei and you did well. A third option would have been to go down to Positano pedestrian area, to go to Pompeii site and miss the ship's departure !!! That would have well deserved a 1 star review.

Absolutely Magical tour of the Amalie Coast

When we disembarked at the port, our well-dressed and knowledgeable guide was waiting for us in a spotlessly clean, new model Mercedes. We had eight hours to spend touring around and our guide gave us just enough free time in each location. He even recommended a perfect restaurant on a cliff overlooking the sea for us to have an authentic Italian lunch. I cannot recommend this company high enough! Everything was perfect. I will always remember the wonderful day we had on the Amalfi coast.

Pompeii, Positano, Amalfi Coast and Sorrento Private Shore Excursion: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Naples.

How much does Pompeii, Positano, Amalfi Coast and Sorrento Private Shore Excursion cost?

    +

Prices start at $346 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Naples usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Pompeii, Positano, Amalfi Coast and Sorrento Private Shore Excursion take?

    +

Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Naples is not rushed.

Is Pompeii, Positano, Amalfi Coast and Sorrento Private Shore Excursion worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 50 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Naples, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Pompeii, Positano, Amalfi Coast and Sorrento Private Shore Excursion?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Pompeii, Positano, Amalfi Coast and Sorrento Private Shore Excursion suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Pompeii, Positano, Amalfi Coast and Sorrento Private Shore Excursion?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Naples can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Naples and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Pompeii, Positano, Amalfi Coast and Sorrento Private Shore Excursion start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Naples within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Naples?

    +

On Outty we rank every Naples experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Full Day Private Amalfi Coast Tour from Sorrento/Naples/Salerno, Caserta Royal Palace & Gardens Small Group Tour with Shuttle, Naples Pizza and Tiramisu Cooking Class. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Naples?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Naples?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
