About this experience
Your driver and your Tour Guide will come to pick you up ready to guide you all day long through the most significant archeological and naturalistic site of the Naples Bay. Your guided tour will start in Pompeii one of the most famous excavation in the world, buried for 1,700 years, has been brought to life again and you will experience how the citizens of the greatest empire the world has ever known lived and loved, worked and played, ate and drank and died. After Pompeii, you will drive to Herculaneum to admire its wonderful houses with impressive frescoes and mosaics, its buildings are much better preserved. After a lunch break begins your guided tour of Mt. Vesuvius with the slow trip up the windy road up the hill until the parking lot to the crater. If you are going to reach the top you must leave the car behind here and take a 30-minute hike of moderate difficulty, which reaches nearly 4,200 feet. The views and fresh air here are well worth the effort.

Knowledgable and engaging guide
Our guide Massimo and driver Umberto picked us up promptly at our hotel for a wonderful day out at Herculaneum, Vesuvius and Pompeii - Massimo is very knowledgeable and delivers information in a very engaging way - managed to keep 2 teenagers on board all day - he'll do very well in his desired profession as teacher!

Great tour to see the three main sites around Naples. Our guide and driver made the day very comfortable and informative even though the weather was rainy. Recommend highly.

Pompeii, Herculaneum and Vesuvius Private Guided Tour
Andrew was an excellent guide. He packed a lot into our day. His information was well organized and presented well. He was the best of three guides we had that week. Would recommend him very highly.

Vesuvius Private Crater Walk
Tour Guides Naples organised an amazing private tour for us. We walked for 2hr up and around the Mt Vesuvius crater with an en experienced Vulcanologist who was so passionate. When the small rope was lifted so our private group of 10 could follow the narrow crater path all the other tourists looked on in awe. This is simply a must-do when you come to visit Naples, Pompei and Herculaneum. But the only way to access this area is to have pre-reserved tickets with a qualified guide.

Why this scores 64
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Pompeii, Herculaneum and Vesuvius Private Guided Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Naples.
How much does Pompeii, Herculaneum and Vesuvius Private Guided Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $119 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Naples usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Pompeii, Herculaneum and Vesuvius Private Guided Tour take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Naples is not rushed.
Is Pompeii, Herculaneum and Vesuvius Private Guided Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Naples, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Pompeii, Herculaneum and Vesuvius Private Guided Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Pompeii, Herculaneum and Vesuvius Private Guided Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Pompeii, Herculaneum and Vesuvius Private Guided Tour?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Naples can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Naples and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Pompeii, Herculaneum and Vesuvius Private Guided Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Naples within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Naples?
+
On Outty we rank every Naples experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Full Day Private Amalfi Coast Tour from Sorrento/Naples/Salerno, Caserta Royal Palace & Gardens Small Group Tour with Shuttle, Naples Pizza and Tiramisu Cooking Class. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Naples?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Naples?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
