About this experience
Visit the ruins of ancient Pompeii, buried by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 A.D. and preserved almost intact for centuries. The tour will give you a glimpse of its inhabitants’ lifestyle and the astonishing number of villas, shops and public buildings that archaeologists brought back to light. Stop along the way to a local factory to learn more about the process of Cameos and Corals craft, jewels made out of corals and seashells (if time permits). During this 2-hour tour of Pompeii, you will learn about the daily life of Romans in the 1st century AD. Walk through the theater, where citizens enjoyed performances; along the ancient shopping street full of preserved bakeries and pizzerias; and, take you to see the house of the richest man in Pompeii. From there, you will get to see the traditional sites of Pompeii, including the necropolis, forum, and bath houses.

Disappointing and pricey for what we received
Disappointing to say the least. The scheduled time for the bus somehow changed, but we were still able to attend on another bus. Part of the reason I chose this tour was that it picked us up from our hotel which was convenient. The ride there and back was great, but for $100 person I should have taken an uber and bought the tickets and the iPod listening tour and map when we arrived. Our guide just pointed to the map and let us go for two hours. The map/recorded tour were not in sync which made it confusing. We did our best, but two hours didn’t do it justice which became frustrating. For nearly $400 it was overpriced for the lack of service. I would not recommend this tour. We prefer better engagement at the venue.
Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to hear that the experience did not meet your expectations. We would like to clarify that the inclusions and services provided with the tour are clearly indicated at the time of booking, so guests can review exactly what is included before confirming their reservation. We also regret any confusion regarding the scheduled departure time and the audio guide during the visit. Confirm you will have guided tour
Assumed it was a guided tour. Had iPods to listen to tour. Map was difficult to interpret and iPod was not easy to use. Guide though was helpful and gave good food recommendations afterwards.
Response from the operator: Dear Gary, Thank you for your feedback. We're glad you appreciated our staff's assistance and recommendations. We're sorry the audio guide did not meet your expectations. The experience you booked includes an audio-guided visit rather than a live guided tour, and we understand this may have caused some confusion. We hope to welcome you again on one of our guided experiences. Staff Napoli City Vision

Slow tour and hard to understand
The tour was very slow because the guide, Roberto, had to translate in both English and Spanish which is not very efficient. We would walk 30ft and listen to 5 minutes of talking. We should have been able to see quite a bit more of Pompeii but this made the tour very inefficient. It was also very difficult to understand Roberto so we did not get a lot of the details. Additionally, there was an elderly gentleman with us who had difficulty walking and was short of breath. It took Roberto to the end of the tour to call for assistance. Additionally, we were on a cruise excursion and after the tour I asked our tour leader Ivana if the driver could drop us off somewhere other than the cruise terminal so we could continue exploring. She said that is fine and talk to the driver because he speaks English. We heard here say something about a tour to the driver but didn't fully understand. When we arrived back to Naples, the driver Armando insisted on giving us a tour and driving is around. We asked multiple times and he said he would circle again and take as back to cruise terminal. We used Google translate and finally got him to stop after firmly telling him to stop and let us out of the vehicle. My kids felt like we were being kidnapped and was very uncomfortable. Although I don't think there were any ill intentions, I think the communication from Ivana could have been better so the driver knew exactly what we wanted.
Response from the operator: Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that parts of the experience did not meet your expectations and we take your comments very seriously. We will review internally the communication between staff and the handling of the drop-off request to ensure clearer procedures in the future. We are also sorry for any discomfort experienced during the return. Staff Napolicityvision

Why this scores 73
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Pompeii Half Day Trip from Naples: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Naples.
How much does Pompeii Half Day Trip from Naples cost?
+
Prices start at $50 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Naples usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Pompeii Half Day Trip from Naples take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Naples is not rushed.
Is Pompeii Half Day Trip from Naples worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 73 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 153 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Naples, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Pompeii Half Day Trip from Naples?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Pompeii Half Day Trip from Naples suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Pompeii Half Day Trip from Naples?
+
Around 54 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Naples can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Naples and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Pompeii Half Day Trip from Naples start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Naples within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Naples?
+
On Outty we rank every Naples experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Full Day Private Amalfi Coast Tour from Sorrento/Naples/Salerno, Caserta Royal Palace & Gardens Small Group Tour with Shuttle, Naples Pizza and Tiramisu Cooking Class. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Naples?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Naples?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
