Food and walking tour not to be missed!

Wonderful hike around the town with Silvia who is an incredibly knowledgeable guide. LOVED this tour. We were so full after a huge homemade lunch with Sivia and Antonio's honey, wine, lemonade, cheeses and olive oil.

Private Guided Hiking Tour Through the Vineyards and Lunch

My sister and I had the privilege of taking a private guided tour with Antonio. The beauty of the terrain was enhanced by Antonio's knowledge and passion for the area. It was a moderate hike with incredible views and engaging conversation. The lunch was timed impeccably to align with a break from hiking. If I am ever in the area, I will be sure to book another experience with Antonio as he has such warm energy.

Response from the operator: Hi Amanda! Thank you for your visit. It was an amazing day! I will keep your words and kindness in my memory :) Wish you all the best!

Highly recommend this hike—Nature, history, culture and authentic local food

Antonio was a great guide. He shared so much knowledge about the wineries, growing of the grapes and led us carefully through a rather strenuous hike. He was patient and thoughtful. when we needed a rest, he would tell us more about the area, the plants and the culture. The scenery was gorgeous even for late winter. We were fortunate that the recent rains had subsided. If we come back to the area we would have António take us to more remote places and wineries. A highlight was the lunch! It was delicious and primarily sourced from his family farm (olive oil, wine, honey, Port) plus homemade salad and cake. We loved it!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much! It was a beautiful day! You are welcome!

    Top!

Top experience if you want to feel the true Douro life. António is a great person who explains everything you want to know about the Douro and life in the Douro Valley. We had a wonderful time—even though it was raining, the experience was still amazing! The picnic at the end was so good! We will definitely come back!

    Outstanding experience with Antonio

Excellent hike with stunning views of the valley. Antonio makes everyone feel at ease and provides much information on the area, the vegetation, the animals, and the history of the region. The homemade lunch was special. This hike is highly recommended.

Douro Valley Hiking Tour & Picnic Lunch: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Porto.

How much does Douro Valley Hiking Tour & Picnic Lunch cost?

    +

Prices start at $206 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Porto usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Douro Valley Hiking Tour & Picnic Lunch take?

    +

Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Porto is not rushed.

Is Douro Valley Hiking Tour & Picnic Lunch worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 66 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 21 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Porto, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Douro Valley Hiking Tour & Picnic Lunch?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Douro Valley Hiking Tour & Picnic Lunch suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Douro Valley Hiking Tour & Picnic Lunch?

    +

Around 7 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Porto can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Porto and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Douro Valley Hiking Tour & Picnic Lunch start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Porto within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Porto?

    +

On Outty we rank every Porto experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Unvanquished Tour in Porto City Center, Best of Porto Walking Tour Small Group Experience and Local Guide, Douro Valley Small Group Tour: 2 Wineries, Lunch & River Cruise. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Porto?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Porto?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.

What is included in Douro Valley Hiking Tour & Picnic Lunch?

    +

Included: Sustainable experience; Lunch; and Private local hiking guide. Not included: Personal expenses and gratuities. Always check the voucher for the final list before you travel.

Where is the meeting point for Douro Valley Hiking Tour & Picnic Lunch?

    +

What languages is Douro Valley Hiking Tour & Picnic Lunch offered in?

    +

It runs in English. Pick your language when choosing a date and time, as not every departure runs in every language.

Will I get instant confirmation and a mobile ticket for Douro Valley Hiking Tour & Picnic Lunch?

    +

What happens to Douro Valley Hiking Tour & Picnic Lunch if the weather is bad?

    +

This experience depends on good weather. If it is canceled because of poor weather, you are offered a different date or a full refund.
