    Wonderful tours, places and company.

I booked several tours with Luis from My Guide Madeira during my vacation. Having started with an Island Tour to Pico Areeiro, the traditional houses in Santana, Cabo Girão and a nice fisher village, we hiked in San Lorenco and visited Funchal Old Town, the traditional market with fruits I did not know exist and did a wine tasting. My highlight next to all the wonderful views was our morning hike to the top of Pico Ruivo in a radiating starlit sky and an incredible peaceful sunrise from the summit. Luis is such a kind, caring and supportive guide who shares knowledge and wisdom of this beautiful island Madeira which is his home. I have learned and seen so much and felt very welcome in this lovely place. Highly recommend the tours My Guide Madeira offers and especially the warmth, care and hospitality that the team imparts. Thank you for making my holidays a beautiful memory.

Response from the operator: Dear Mrs. Sinja Hope it's everything ok with you :) I really want to thank you for your review and your trully kind words! :) Was a pleasure to make the tours with you and to show you Madeira :) Kind regards, Luis Gonçalves

Amazing guided tour by Luis on PR1

PR1 From Pico do Areeiro to Pico Ruivo (top of Madeira) and back again. 13km in total (2x6,5) we spend 6 hours and 45 min and we were never in a hurry. Luis was a really great guide: reliable, knowledgable, great english and no stress during the walk....we sat the pace. This hike is basically a walk on mountain rigs with stunning scenery all the time. Lots of stairs so I guess it would ease the strain on the legs to bring walking-sticks (I didn't but I wish I had). Luis picked us up at the hotel and drove us back again, great treat. It was only me and my son (13 years) and it was the best day of our vacation. Luis also provided lights for the tunnels. We did the walk in the easter vacation with 15 degrees, perfect for a long hike like this. All in all, I highly recommend Luis for a guided tour, I felt safe the whole day :-) Just call (00351)960473142 and ask for a specific hike or ask for recommendations that fit your wishes and physical shape. And he will propose a hike and a day :-) It cannot be more easy than that :-) Go for it.

Response from the operator: Dear mrs. Mai Thank you very much for your review and for the kind words! I really enjoyed the walk with you and your son, was amazing ! :) The weather was good and the walk was tought. But we did it. You are both very brave and determined. It's not a easy walk. And you did it always with a smile. We did it calmly, at our pace and enjoying the views. In the end it was exhausting but it was very worth it. All the best for you mrs Mai and family :) We are at your disposal always :) Kind regards My Guide Madeira

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Funchal and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

What are the best things to do in Funchal?

    +

The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Funchal?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Funchal?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
