Great learning the art of street photography
Spent the day with Michael and had a great time learning about street photography - something I have never done before. Particularly as I was taken to areas you wouldn't normally see, but meant I could really see and photograph the reality of daily life in Phnom Penh. These are areas I would not have otherwise seen or have had the confidence to go to. We had a brief chat on settings to use and Michael advised a few times on what settings he was shooting with, but it was really about how to spot those moments and engage with people to be able to take their photo. Have some great shots and enjoyed my time with Michael.

Best day in Phnom Penh...!
First of all this tour is not only for photographers. Anyone who wants to learn about the daily life of Cambodian people and wants to get an inside view and feel of how this lovely city breathes, anyone who wants to get away from the beaten path and the industrialized tourist flows, anyone who is ready to experience the stunning and harsh contrasts the city is built on, should spend a day with Michael in Phnom Penh. Take at least your smartphone though, as you will probably make some photographs along the way, which you will cherish for a lifetime. I had the luck of having Michael all for myself for about ten hours and although I have traveled the world with a camera for most of my life, the day was an unforgettable experience. Michael knows the city, knows its people and knows a lot about photography. He will lay the perfect motives at your feet in and around the city and will take you to street photography paradise. He is sensible and professional and has a unique feel of how much guidance you need, and gives you just that. He is also great company and fun to be with. We had a long day with a lot of footwork in the dust and the tropical sun, but when we finally sat down for a cold drink at the end of the day at the riverside , I could not be happier. I really fully recharged my „visual batteries” for quite some time to come and will definitely be back for more time to explore Cambodia with Michael.

Great for photographers
We were four adults in our group (two couples) and only one has a keen interest in photography, my husband, Ron. Rather than send my husband by himself on this tour, we all went and basically had a private tour with Michael, the professional photographer. Michael was a good tour guide showing us around the city, into areas we probably would not have ventured into on our own. Ron appreciated Michael's insights and guidance in adjusting his camera settings and also in framing photos for creative angles and lighting. Ron recommends this tour for anyone looking to improve their photography skills, particularly in an area that offers so much diversity, color, and interest.

Superb tour
Two years ago I took the group tour and I was so impressed I took a personal tour yesterday. Michael is a great guy and was patient showing me all the myriad of functions on my complicated camera as we toured through the nooks and crannies of Phnom Penh. There is no way I would have found these fascinating markets and neighbourhoods on my own. I have been on hundreds of day tours and I have no hesitation recommending Michaels tours!!!! You won’t regret this well priced excursion

Great photography sites and tips in Phnom Penh
I did a whole day Tour with Michael and visited sites with spectacular photographic opportunities. I wouldn’t have found these sites on my own. Michael had previously developed great rapport with the locals, and 99% were very willing to allow multiple photos. This included a great spectrum of people including well-worn characterful faces and playful children in exotic surroundings. We also visited sites where there were beautiful, ornate buildings, monks, school children etc. I consider myself an enthusiastic amateur at photography. Michael taught me about a number of features on my camera and has given me the confidence to experiment further. He provided feedback on my shots that was very helpful. As I had Michael all to myself (another lady was a late cancellation), we were able to cater to my whims. I was well prepared for a day outside in the heat and suggest a long sleeved cotton shirt, long cotton pants and a scrunchable hat to keep off the sun, sensible walking shoes for walking in mud, going up steep stairs etc, minimal gear to carry so your hands are free for your camera, and somewhere to carry a water bottle. It was a big day for an old-ish lady. If I had time, I would do a morning one day, and an afternoon the next. Don’t be shy. Good communication with Michael and the people you encounter will help you and him make the most of your day.
Response from the operator: Thanks Helen, We had a great day and as you mentioned you re a real aussie troper to take it all in without any complaints about the heat. The morning is always somewhat cooler as the day progresses. We did take a 12-until 2pm heat break and lunch rest in order to be there in the afternoon to catch the golden hour and warm late light. I hope your photography will keep you excited and provide you with artistic inspiration! Thank again! Michael

Why this scores 68
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Phnom Penh Photo Tours Full Day: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Phnom Penh.
How much does Phnom Penh Photo Tours Full Day cost?
+
Prices start at $25 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Phnom Penh usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Phnom Penh Photo Tours Full Day take?
+
Plan for about 24 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Phnom Penh is not rushed.
Is Phnom Penh Photo Tours Full Day worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 68 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Phnom Penh, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Phnom Penh Photo Tours Full Day?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Phnom Penh Photo Tours Full Day suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 24-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Phnom Penh Photo Tours Full Day?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Phnom Penh can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Phnom Penh and add a light layer if any part of the 24-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Phnom Penh Photo Tours Full Day start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Phnom Penh within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Phnom Penh?
+
On Outty we rank every Phnom Penh experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Half Day Tuol Sleng S21 and Choeung Ek Killing Field Tour, The Killing Field and Toul Sleng Genocide Museum (S21) Tour, Killing field and Toul Sleng genocide museum Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Phnom Penh?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Phnom Penh?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
