Must do - watch out for choas at Nocelle bus stop
The Path of the Gods is an absolute MUST DO on the Amalfi Coast. We walked from Bomerano to Nocelle, then continued down the famous 1,700 steps into Positano. IMO you do NOT need to pay for a guided tour. We caught the 7:10am SITA bus from Amalfi to Bomerano (Agerola) — about a 50-minute ride along spectacular cliff roads with hairpin bends and massive drop-offs. Tickets were €2.40 each. The yellow-vest SITA ticket seller was not there that early, so buy tickets beforehand if you can. Unsure whether the driver always sells tickets at that hour. Bomerano is the final stop. From there, use Google Maps to walk to the town square only a few minutes away. There’s a great café there with excellent coffee, prepared rolls for takeaway lunches, and a toilet (you’ll need a token from the café). The trail itself is very well signposted. When you reach the directional signs for Nocelle, take the “2 hour” route. The path is rocky and uneven in sections, so proper walking shoes are essential. Walking poles are ideal. Take water. The views are simply breathtaking the entire way — cliffs, coastline, villages and sea. One of the best walks we’ve ever done. There are no public toilets in Nocelle, so stopping at the first café you see is a smart move. From Nocelle to Positano you have two choices:• Walk the 1,700 steps down — moderate to hard going, especially for older walkers. About 45 minutes for younger, fitter people.• Catch the local bus. The local bus leaves roughly 10 minutes before the hour from the upper level near the car park. Don’t follow the main stairway down to Positano — continue along the path and up a few stairs to find the stop. The driver collected fares onboard — about €1.80 each. One warning though: when the bus arrived it was complete chaos. There’s no obvious queue area and everyone scrambled to get on because the buses are small and fill quickly. Unfortunately that seems fairly common around the Amalfi Coast — roads, buses and ferries can all feel a bit disorganised and overcrowded. Even so, this walk is unforgettable and absolutely worth doing.

Do it Yourself
We did this hike ourself, caught a local bus to Amalfi, then amother to Bomerano. Then took our time hiking the trail no agenda no rush, let those on tours pass us and stopped when ever to soak in the wonderful views. So it cost us 2.40 euro for the bus ride and thouroghly enjoyed the peace and quiet when we waited for people to pass. Even stopped for a wine near the end at a little grotto in the middle of no where.

Its absolutely fine if you don't mind heights and no barriers
We chose to take the public bus to Bomersno and do the walk self guided. The sheer scale of the 'actual height' is deceptively disguised as the walk starts of proper footpath with stunning views. You climb and descend with ease until you reach a junction. This states high path or low path When I saw the actual height of the path and the fact there were no barriers. I realised I wouldn't be able to do it as Im neither part mountain goat or that great with heights. However, descending to the low path was no walk in the park. The incline down is steep and uneven underfoot. The corners are also sharp and steep. I nearly had a meltdown until an angel named Diana went by my side blocking the sheer drop until we met the barriers. The views then were beautiful and I could truly enjoy them. The walk is taxing and challenging on terrain. Many walkers had poles. Its also very long, taking nearly 3 and half hours. The pit stop at Nocelle was welcome but beware waking to Positano afterwards as there are 1700 stairs down to another mile walk along the crazy roads. Worth it but you need to mentally prepare.

Do it if you can, it will be unforgettable
This hike is not for the faint of heart. Please no seniors that can't handle walking or need help or assistance with their bags or water? The views are stunning. The traffic was minimal as this is not such an exciting event but a theatrical pleasure for the eyes.

Incredible views and local mountain hospitality
Friendly and patient guide with exceptional local knowledge, safety and hospitality. Luigi greeted us with the warmest smile and provided information how to be safe on the trail. The views of the Amalfi Coast were stunning and we learned about local mountain culture, history, flora, and fauna during the hike. The visit with shepherd Antonio was a perfect resting point half way with the antics of the farm animals (Eros, Bo, Luke, Limoncello, and Limon), folk song, natural wine and traditional snack. We started with a morning hike and avoided the midday sun. A definite Highlight of the trip.
