    What you'll see and do

    1. Saint Germain des Pres Quarter

The heart of Paris starts here in this quarter of Saint-Germain-des-Prés. We will enter the oldest church in Paris for a glimpse back a 1,000 years of history. Facing the church we walk by the famous cafés, Les Deux Magots & Café de Flore, for a selfie moment. We carry on exploring the entire neighbourhood poking our noses against boutique shop windows until we find one that peaks our interest for entering. The quarter has other points of interests and hidden gems that we may pass by like the Eugène Delacroix Museum or the spot where Benjamin Franklin signed the American Revolution Peace Treaty, or even a Picasso sculpture. And of course if our private tour group has become a little hungry for a snack then we do a tasting from the best Italian bakery in all of Paris or a classic crêpe cooked right in front of your eyes. The area is so quaint & beautiful we take our time and enjoy every moment we have here in this quarter of the 6th arrondissement.

      60 minutes here

    2. Louvre Museum

We see everything about the Louvre Museum that we can without actually going inside. From the Dan Brown Da Vinci Code inverted pyramid to the actual Pyramid designed by Ieoh Ming Pei located in Napoleon's courtyard. We find some secret views of the interior, ancient ruins from when Paris was a walled in city, and of course a stroll around the carousel and the Tuileries Gardens.

      30 minutes here

    3. Quartier de l'Opera

The Opéra Garnier is like no other opera house and it's a must-see which we do a complete walk around as we turn our heads in all directions admiring all the different aspects of this neighbourhood. Which leads us to the famous Galeries Lafayette department store for a buzz of chic and glamour decorated in art deco under a Byzantine dome 150 feet high that is top with an panoramic viewing terrace of almost all of Paris! People from previous tours love this view and so will you.

      30 minutes here

    4. Latin Quarter

Everyone wants to see Paris' left bank area know as the Latin Quarter and so do we. Keep in mind this area is enormous and time is fleeting so we see what we can and hop on buses and or metros to hyper jump around the neighbourhood. A visit to this area is not complete without a stroll down the oldest street in Paris and depending on what century this street at one time was outside the Paris walls. If our tour group is still a little peckish for some tastings and if the season is on then we shall try a dozen oysters perhaps with a glass of white wine in a traditional marketplace not far from Odéon. If there is time and we should try to make the time we will explore deeper into the quarter and find a few more hidden gems like a 1st century Roman amphitheatre that sat 15,000 spectators watching gladiatorial combats like the Coliseum in Rome. And let's not forget Emily in Paris and her neighbourhood..) We go there anyway to walk around the Place du Panthéon and the surrounding area.

      60 minutes here

    5. Pont Neuf

The oldest bridge in Paris is aptly named in French as the "New Bridge" so we know which bridge we are talking about. We are most likely coming from in front of the Notre Dame Cathedral and are approaching the bridge by walking alongside the river's edge. We cross the bridge in front of the statue of king Henry 4th and take photos of the river, the left bank, the right bank, even the Eiffel Tower in the background. You learn about the hourly boat cruise departure points, the dinner cruises, the hidden squares on the island. If there is time we see the famous florist markets, the deportation museum, the medieval prison towers of Marie Antoinette, and glimpses of the Shakespearean Book Company and Saint Michael's fountain.

      30 minutes here

    6. Montmartre

You can't miss viewing the big white church on the mountain at one point during your visit to Paris and so we make the effort to go there and see it and the historic area for ourselves. The mountain of martyrs, Montmartre, dates back to when a Bishop, Saint-Denis, was martyred at the top for preaching the gospel to people that were not quite ready. Almost 2,000 years later the area is known for the impressionist artists that lived up there and for the cafés and cabarets that frequented. We see an endless list of must-sees in the area including; the Moulin Rouge, famous Rue Lepic, the I Love You wall, the oldest métro entrance, Van Gogh's apartment, Picasso's studio, Dalida's home & statue and some of the most picturesque streets in Paris. This is a fun part of the day's adventure and it's time to relax a little so yes another tasting is in order, perhaps of raclette cheese on baguette, an assortment of macarons, local beers, maybe a hot wine or sangria. Plus the Funicular ride!

    Best Value in Paris

This tour is a MUST for the first day of a first visit to Paris. Thor met us at our hotel promptly at 10am as we had previously agreed. We sat and talked briefly as he asked us about what other tours we had scheduled and what plans we had while we were in town. Then we were off on a 7+ hour (8 mile according to my watch) customized walking tour. We learned tips and got experience using the Metro (by subway, bus, and funicular train) and visited several neighborhoods to get the lay of the land. Stops for food and snacks included coffee and croissants, falafel, quiche, hot spiced wine, and oysters with more wine. We stopped at some places with breathtaking views, including the roof of a large department store (where we learned that department stores are the best places to find clean restrooms). Each tour is individualized based on what the participants wish to see and do, but keep in mind that there is a LOT of walking. Thor gave us plenty of rest breaks, though, and it was so exciting to see everything that we really didn't realize just how much we walked until we returned to our hotel room at the end of the day. Compared to the price of some other tours which offer much less, this experience was truly a bargain. Thor is a fountain of knowledge and tips and is a wonderful guide.

Response from the operator: Hi Kathy and Randy, thank you for the review! Yes indeed we spent the whole day exploring all of Paris starting with a croissant and coffee at a lovely café in that secret passage. Well we actually started with getting our day passes so we could bop around on buses and metro without worries. And we did oysters too, fresh from the fishmonger! Great day, great memories. See you again. Take care. Cheers, Thor

How long does Paris All Day Private Tour Sightseeing & Tastings, Fexible Start! take?

    +

Around 0 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Paris can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Paris and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

What are the best things to do in Paris?

    +

Paris rewards travelers who book ahead. The headline museums sell timed entry weeks out, the best food walks cap at eight people, and the Seine cruises that are worth doing are the ones that leave after sunset. Everything below is scored by the Outty Ranking so you can tell a genuine local favorite from a coach-tour filler in a single glance. On Outty we rank every Paris experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Paris City Center Free Walking Tour (Tip-Based), Louvre Museum Premium Guided Tour 6 GUESTS MAX Entry Included, Louvre Museum Essential Guided Tour Semi Private 6 GUESTS MAX. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Paris?

    +

April to June and September to October, when queues thin out and terraces stay open late. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Paris?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
