Navigate the waters of Lake Gatun, an essential part of the Panama Canal, as enormous ships pass in the distance and the tropical jungle pushes through the islands that emerged after the lake's creation. In Monkey Island we will look for three species of primates: white-faced capuchin monkeys, Geoffroy's tamarins, and howler monkeys, whose powerful calls are often heard through the forest. During the tour we will also be able to find tropical birds, iguanas, crocodiles, and other animals in their natural habitat. But this experience goes far beyond observing monkeys. Your bilingual local guide will help you interpret the landscape and discover how the construction of the Canal transformed ancient valleys of the Chagres River into an extraordinary ecosystem of islands surrounded by the waters of Lake Gatun. Our small groups allow for a more personal, quiet, and close to nature experience. Nature, history, and engineering meet in one place: the Panama Canal.

Perfect trip, excellent service
This was my best experience in Panama. I was lucky that I was the only guest on the given day, but Gino did not cancell the trip and delived it as planned. Thanks! All aspects worked perfectly. The boat ride brought us close to large container ships, and also the monkeys were present. The sceneries are really nice.
Response from the operator: We are thrilled that you like it! Our guides always put in their best effort to ensure that you have the best experience. Thank you for your kind words and we hope to see you again soon!

Natural magic.
Diener was a wonderful tour guide. From pick up to drop off he went out of his way to make sure we spotted wildlife well after the ‘official’ tour. Monkeys came down to greet us, the Gamboa hotel view was breathtaking. The butterfly, frog and sloth sanctuaries remarkable. Diener spotted more rare birds on our way back. It’s clear he loves sharing the beauty of Panama and that comes through so clearly. A beautiful and unforgettable experience.
Response from the operator: I’m glad that you had a wonderful tour with us, we gave our best efforts in order you got the best tour ever.

How far in advance should I book Panama Canal Boat Tour to Monkey Islands?
+
Around 8 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Panama City can sell out a month out. What should I bring or wear?

The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Panama City?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Panama City?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
