Warning: This trip is exhausting. Also too expencive. I would suggest not to do it in this way of travelling. overnight trip means - you have no sleep, but walking the night through until the next day // This trip is not recommended from Bali! You are picked up by car around 6 pm, then it goes through the night without sleep until the next day 12 pm you are at the ferry, then on to the destination. A real gate tour. From the ferry in Java you stand without information and first have to find the way yourself in the middle of the night. We were unfortunately also traveling at a time after Ramadan/holidays, i.e. everything was super crowded, night with flashlight (which was not loaded properly) due to the crowding with debris down the rock - also quite dangerous. For all the stress also much too overpriced about this way offered here -not recommended.

i had one of the most unforgettable experiences of my life on this trip to mount Ijen. I joined the tour in March, everything was so well organized from the start😍😍 we began our journey with a ferry ride, which was calm and gave us a nice view of the ocean.

Disappointing at best

I’m surprised by all the positive reviews here. I don’t think the trip was worth the money at all. The views of the volcano are quite nice, but there were no blue flames and the lake was barely visible. I suppose that it is not dependent on the organizers, but it’s worth to know that this might happen. What is dependent on organizers is the rest - which was not worth the money at all: the transport which was not the best (the guides were not exactly speaking English, the cars were not in the best condition, one of them didn’t even have AC which again in Bali/Java temperatures for this amount of money is rather disappointing, one was making whistling noise for 4 straight hours), the incredible incredible crowds (there were like literally hundreds people, someone from organizers quoted 600 people - unless you can walk a bit faster and take over the massive amounts of people you’re gonna get stuck walking one over another in a peak-hours-metro-kinda crowd). Overall you can take wayyy cheaper trips on Bali for more pleasant trips for other volcanos. I would skip this one.
