Bertucce si Cascate no

Yet another organized and overly inflated tour for tourists. The ouzud falls, in my view, are not worth the journey time from Marrakech or the price you pay. Luckily I had the opportunity to visit this green spot immersed in the Moroccan desert with a really nice guide and especially from Bertucce: very nice animals and very sociable, but they definitely deserve a better diet. The trip is topped off with a 5-minute ride in the pond: embark on a kind of death raft with a gondolier who enjoys seeing you screaming at the ice water that makes you take, back to shore totally soaked and even annoyed. The guides also organize an obligatory pit stop at local restaurants where you don't have much choice on the menu and you don't even have price awareness. In short, avoidable but for Bertucce, this and more.

A chaotic mess of a tour

I would like to start off by thanking our driver Omar, seemed like a nice enough guy and drove us there and back safely. Firstly the pick up from our hotel was almost 1 hour late. So we were left waiting for ages. The drive there was fine although the 20 minute stops were too long. Once we arrived, we were allocated a group tour guide that we didn't ask for as we thought it was a self guided trip. This guide told us straight away that we had to pay him 40 Mad each, so the two of us had to pay each. The tour was too long, in the boiling sun, too much time standing around in the heat (36 degrees). Much of the tour was walking through a building site. We were hurried along and told to rush whenever we wanted to take photos of the waterfall & monkeys. Our free time was on their terms. They then took us down to the waterfall where most of us just wanted to chill and take in the views and swim. However, we were then practically ushered onto a boat to have a 5 minute boat trip around the waterfall at another 20 Mad each. We both refused to do this and both tour guides were very rude and dismissive of us. After this we then got ushered into their friends restaurant (Restaurant chez Rachid) for lunch (which was never mentioned in the excursion description) which then cost us another 240 Mad. We didn't get to choose where we ate, we had to eat at this place, again on their terms. I have left the restuarant a Google review of that experience. We refused to have dessert and left so we could actually have 30 minutes free time. The waitress was rude and dismissive of us and again tried to get her male friend to usher us to the taxi area where he would then ask for money. Absolute disgraceful behavior and conduct from the guides and their 'group of friends' in surrounding restaurants and shops. It's almost like gang behaviour. We overall spent an extra 340 Mad that we weren't expecting. To sum it up, the tour guides are presumptuous, rude, pushy, demanding and dismissive. Constantly after more money. It ruined the whole aspect of the day. This is not a self guided day so don't expect any free time to actually take in the sights, unless you do what we did and just walk off. Would 100% not recommend this, not tourist friendly. Best to book a private driver for the day and tell the peasants posing as tour guides when you arrive exactly where to go.

Response from the operator: Dear Sir, Referring to the message above, we would like to explain the following: - Since the day trip is programmed for small group (individuals) whose accomodations vary from a district to another! The puck up time may sometimes take longer adding the traffic in Marrakesh (the same happens for the drop off!) - On the way, since it's a group, some people ask for a break to use rest rooms! The drive takes some 3 hours! - In sommer with heat they recommend local guides (for safety) in case of storms that the local guide knows the shelters where people can be lead to. Last week indeed as seen on international TV news, many storms happened and some dead people and dozens still missing (Storms followed by floods) - Regarding lunch, it's optional. It's normal that you'll be suggested some local restaurants. It's free to people to eat or not. Kind regards

Great site but trip lacking clarity

The waterfalls are worth the visit but an 8 hour day is actually a 12 hour day so very long. Also you are farmed by the guide who is great via every shop and also to a particular restaurant who tries to get every dirham out of you, sadly.

Enjoyable day to Ouzoud waterfalls

Walking to a viewing platform to see the waterfalls. A very helpful guide who assisted in my not being able to negotiate the usual route and took us to a more accessible area.

Ouzoud Waterfalls: Private or Small-Group daytrip from Marrakech: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Marrakech.

How much does Ouzoud Waterfalls: Private or Small-Group daytrip from Marrakech cost?

+

Prices start at $30 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Marrakech usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Ouzoud Waterfalls: Private or Small-Group daytrip from Marrakech take?

+

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Marrakech is not rushed.

Is Ouzoud Waterfalls: Private or Small-Group daytrip from Marrakech worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 60 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.2/5 across 13 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Marrakech, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Ouzoud Waterfalls: Private or Small-Group daytrip from Marrakech?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Ouzoud Waterfalls: Private or Small-Group daytrip from Marrakech suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 2. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 8-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Ouzoud Waterfalls: Private or Small-Group daytrip from Marrakech?

+

Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Marrakech can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Marrakech and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Ouzoud Waterfalls: Private or Small-Group daytrip from Marrakech start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Marrakech within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Marrakech?

+

On Outty we rank every Marrakech experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Agafay Desert Quad Bike Camel Ride and Dinner Show, Best Marrakech to Fes Sahara Desert Tour with Camp & Camel Trek, 3 Day Marrakech to Merzouga Desert Tour Camel Rides and Overnight. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Marrakech?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Marrakech?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
