About this experience

Ourika is a story based on the life of a woman who was purchased as a child (in or around 1786) by the Chevalier de Boufflers, the colonial administrator of Senegal, and given as a gift to the de Beauvau family. The novel marks a critical point in European literature. It is the first French text to depict a black woman character with a complex psychology. It is the first text to create "an articulate and educated black woman narrator," and "one of the most compelling works of short fiction in French and a startlingly modern commentary on race." The novella covers the time before, during, and after the French Revolution and addresses key themes of race, nationality, exile, interracial love and kinship and the psychological adjustment to these. It signifies an important movement from traditional notions of race, nationality, and kinship towards the identity politics of today.

Ourika and Agafay Day

We had a private guide for a day in Ourika with a hike to the waterfall and lunch by the river, followed by the Agafay desert with mint tea tasting and an hour of quad biking. Then back to Marrakech. Said, our driver, was very friendly and explained the different villages we passed through. Last-minute booking was possible and accommodating; we were able to be picked up just 5 minutes from our Riad. We recommend it wholeheartedly

Incredible Day in Ourika Valley & Marrakech with Soufiane

We had a fantastic experience with Soufiane during our time in Marrakech. He was with us for two full days, helping us explore the city and surrounding areas. The highlight was our visit to the Ourika Valley, where he connected us with local Berber guides who led us on a beautiful hike up into the mountains. We also visited a women’s Argan oil cooperative to sample fresh products and watched traditional carpet weaving in action truly authentic cultural experiences. Soufiane was professional, warm, and always accessible. He made sure we reached all our destinations smoothly and even offered great local recommendations that added so much value to our trip. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide!

Ourika, beautiful landscapes

Departure from our riad, on time as planned with Hamza. On the way, we were able to admire beautiful landscapes, take pictures, we visited a pottery, a carpet shop, had the opportunity to meet beautiful people. On arrival, a guide was waiting for us to start a beautiful hike to the waterfall, too well, a beautiful scenery. Then we had a delicious meal by the river. On the way back, we also exchanged bcp, it was very good! Excursion to do and I advise you the professionalism and kindness of Hamza.

The only tour guide you need in Morocco!

Navigating Morocco can be tricky - who can you trust? Are they giving me a fair deal for what is on offer. You do not nee me to worry when it comes to Soufiane. He has a very comfortable vehicle, is always on time, helpful, informative and doesn’t make stops at unnecessary tourist shops. We have used Soufiane for many trips during our stay and the trip to the Atlas Mountains was excellent. He organised a good guide for the trek and lovely lunch by the water. I would not hesitate to recommend Soufiane for all your excursions or just general taxi around Marrakech. Thank you Soufiane, for helping us with the madness of Morocco!

I would go again!!

What a fabulous trip! We (with teens) had a great day. The Berber home with argan-oil-ladies, the hike up the mountain, coffee at 1600 mtrs, carpetmakers and an amazing lunch at the stream: everything added to a great experience. Driver Said knew a lot about the area and its history. I certainly would go again!

Ourika Valley Waterfalls & Berber Villages Day Trip.: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Marrakech.

How much does Ourika Valley Waterfalls & Berber Villages Day Trip. cost?

+

Prices start at $136 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Marrakech usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Ourika Valley Waterfalls & Berber Villages Day Trip. take?

+

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Marrakech is not rushed.

Is Ourika Valley Waterfalls & Berber Villages Day Trip. worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 66 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 30 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Marrakech, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Ourika Valley Waterfalls & Berber Villages Day Trip.?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Ourika Valley Waterfalls & Berber Villages Day Trip. suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Ourika Valley Waterfalls & Berber Villages Day Trip.?

+

Around 11 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Marrakech can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Marrakech and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Ourika Valley Waterfalls & Berber Villages Day Trip. start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Marrakech within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Marrakech?

+

On Outty we rank every Marrakech experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Agafay Desert Quad Bike Camel Ride and Dinner Show, Best Marrakech to Fes Sahara Desert Tour with Camp & Camel Trek, 3 Day Marrakech to Merzouga Desert Tour Camel Rides and Overnight. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Marrakech?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Marrakech?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
