Educational Tour of Ourika Valley

Lovely tour of the Ourika Valley. Picked us up outside the road, we were a few mins late as we got lost navigating the streets of the Medina but our bus driver waited patiently. The tour included a stop with a nice view, a fairly easy “hike” through a local village (about 30-40 mins with a few stops for pics), multiple stops in Berber villages to learn about how the ladies make argon oil and see how the locals live before finally getting to the Ourika valley river where we had lunch and relaxed by the water. Our tour guide was very patient and informative. Definitely recommend this tour, especially for the cost! Just be sure to wear clothes and shoes that are comfortable for a short hike in the heat and walking on dirt/gravel. Hat & sunglasses is recommended too, or wear sunscreen as the sun is HOT out there!

Be fully aware before booking Ourika Valley day trip!

The information provided by the seller was not accurate, was much more elaborated than the reality. We were told if would be an English speaking group but we were the only English speakers and the driver spoke minimum English. We were collected first instead of last so spent a further 45 minutes driving round collecting other guests and filling up with fuel. The journey was about an hour away and we spent longer than had hoped at the Argan Oil set up as well as a pointless spot along the way with some spare stalls. Once we arrived at Ourika Valley it did look very nice but we were guided to a specific spot and cafe and seated despite having been told we could choose one to go to ourselves. The food itself was ok but small portions, we had been told it would be large dishes to feed the family. We bought three menus which cost us £43 with drinks which was not cheap for the quantity and the fact we did not get to choose the salad and could not open the cans of drinks or wat the fruit salads due to the sheer amount of bees everywhere. It was very off-putting and everyone was leaving their seats before finishing their lunch which was a shame as the setting is very pretty and different. The last part of the visit was meant to be the walk to the waterfall which would involve a bit of a hike. This was unfortunately a complete missell as no one had informed us how hard the hike would be rising up through cobbled steps and very uneven terrain for 200 metres in height. Everyone in the group struggled more than had been expected and we're prepared for. A few had to give up half way as with 44c heat and poor atmospheric conditions this was dangerous. There were no safety measures in place at all and yet the trip advert for many companies just states for all levels of fitness. Good views but waterfall was not as expected and could not swim there as stated either.

Highly recommended

The driver was punctual and the bus was modern, he spoke english well, was very friendly and patient when we wanted to stay longer to admire the views. The nature was beautiful, definitely worth the visit. It was well worth the money.

Stunning views and cultural knowledge

Amazing full day tour from 9-5 - excellent value for money and brilliant local guide. We learned so much about the local culture with a tour of the argan oil producers and water mill, and the tour ended with lunch by the waterfall. I was nervous about how much hiking there would be but there is only a 40 minute walk up hill and the rest we were ambling along and driven by minibus from place to place so it’s not too strenuous. Our party included an 80 something and a teen - I would highly recommend this.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your wonderful review! We're delighted you enjoyed the cultural experiences, scenic waterfall lunch, and the insights from our local guide. It's great to hear the pace was comfortable for all ages in your group. We truly appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you again soon!

Ourika Valley Day Trip from Marrakech: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Marrakech.

How much does Ourika Valley Day Trip from Marrakech cost?

+

Prices start at $8 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Marrakech usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Ourika Valley Day Trip from Marrakech take?

+

Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Marrakech is not rushed.

Is Ourika Valley Day Trip from Marrakech worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 70 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.4/5 across 140 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Marrakech, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Ourika Valley Day Trip from Marrakech?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Ourika Valley Day Trip from Marrakech suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 2. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 6-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Ourika Valley Day Trip from Marrakech?

+

Around 49 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Marrakech can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Marrakech and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Ourika Valley Day Trip from Marrakech start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Marrakech within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Marrakech?

+

On Outty we rank every Marrakech experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Agafay Desert Quad Bike Camel Ride and Dinner Show, Best Marrakech to Fes Sahara Desert Tour with Camp & Camel Trek, 3 Day Marrakech to Merzouga Desert Tour Camel Rides and Overnight. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Marrakech?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Marrakech?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
