Amazing trip to Simatai Great wall

So how do you top off an amazing 10 day trip to China? One where you made no plans and just wanted to get away from it all.... You book this trip and let Terry, and his team, take you to the hot springs, resort Watertown and the Great Wall. First let me say that I was able to pay with credit. I grew a little tired of paying cash for things and the hotel navigator could only cash trips on buses or rented car. Second I wanted a little personal attention. I knew that I wanted to do a hot spring and that could impact the trip somehow, I wanted a little flexibility to squeeze it all in. After looking at trips this one was an amazing price and met all my needs. Setting up the trip - First let me say that Terry contacted me immediately after I booked the trip. I told him about my goal of visiting a hot springs for the first time and going to this section of the wall. He confirmed that it was there and that we were set to go. Pick up was easy, he arrived at the hotel before our 7:20 meet up time - which is needed to avoid the Beijing Traffic, and off we were. Oh and he confirmed the time about an hour ahead of time. Car was clean and water was waiting. Terry is a friendly guy, we talked about all things China and he answered some questions that I would have had to google when I arrived home. His was very good and we even talked about tariffs and the economic for a little while. Watertown doesn’t need much explaining. He gave me a history tour of it and then we were off. The place is amazing and is a popular tourist spot for the resorts. What’s better is that there aren’t many people who actually want to climb this section of the wall. As Terry explained part of t is that Chinese nationals go to another section and tourist to Beijing go for the closer option. Which means you get to walk the wall with very little crowds. And the further you travel the less people you’ll encounter. I also stopped for a dip in the hot springs, which took some time off of the walking the wall. But this natural spring was well worth it! Finally we closed with lunch. Terry took me to a local spot in Beijing and the food was amazing. Anything was on the table and Terry, his driver and I enjoyed a big lunch a

What should I bring or wear?

The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Beijing?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Beijing?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
