Great Wall Hiking Tour from Simatai West to Jinshanling

Travel China were very professional with their approach and execution of our tour. The section of the wall that we walked was amazing. Our guide Barry arrived at our hotel at the time nominated. He was very pleasant and easy to communicate with and made the drive to the wall interesting explaining many aspects of China. He has good knowledge of the details of the wall. We would certainly recommend Barry as a guide.

Response from the operator: Dear Rodney D, Thank you for choosing TravelChinaGuide to arrange your tour. We are more than happy that our professional guide Barry has brought you a good time on the Great Wall and you like the scenery at this section. Thanks for your recognition on our guide's service. We are proud of having him as our guide. We look forward to another chance to serve you in the near future. Best wishes!

Jinshanling Geat Wall tour

Our guide Kevin took a total of 3 of us and gave us a great overview of Chinese history during the ride up in the minivan. The drive took about 2.5 hours and Kevin talked for just over an hour of that. The hike was amazing! Parts were very strenuous but we could have opted to ride a chairlift up to the wall which in hindsight would have saved our legs a little to give more energy to hike more along the length of the wall. There was an optional extra on your own hike that I’m glad I maximized by adding about a half kilometer overall and seeing some great views and interesting buildings and watchtowers. I would personally have appreciated a little more information from Kevin and also if he’d offered to carry some extra water as it was quite warm and we hiked a total of around 8 kilometers. I enjoyed doing the loop so as not to double up on too much, although the hike down was about 1 km of steps which is hard on the knees after all the stairs on the wall itself. Very pleased I did this tour and Kevin was very nice and put together a great photo/video collage for us. Luckily we all had WeChat so he was able to share with the group. The organization was great as well and I appreciated Angela’s helpfulness with regards to the fact that the hotel I was originally booked into was going to be inaccessible due to a military parade rehearsal during two of the days. This knowledge which was hard to come by and my hotel couldn’t help with either. allowed me to change to a hotel that wasn’t affected so my overall stay was so much better than it would’ve been otherwise.

Response from the operator: Dear TravelJunky_8, Thank you for sharing your Great Wall Hiking experience with us! It is a great joy to see that our guide Kevin's excellent knowledge and great service have made your Beijing experience impressive. Thanks for your highly praise on our service and we hope that you can use our service again in the near future. Have a nice day!

One Day Private Huanghuacheng Great Wall Hiking: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Beijing.

How much does One Day Private Huanghuacheng Great Wall Hiking cost?

+

Prices start at $99 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Beijing usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does One Day Private Huanghuacheng Great Wall Hiking take?

+

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Beijing is not rushed.

Is One Day Private Huanghuacheng Great Wall Hiking worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 52 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 3 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Beijing, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule One Day Private Huanghuacheng Great Wall Hiking?

+

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is One Day Private Huanghuacheng Great Wall Hiking suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book One Day Private Huanghuacheng Great Wall Hiking?

+

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Beijing can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Beijing and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does One Day Private Huanghuacheng Great Wall Hiking start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Beijing within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Beijing?

+

On Outty we rank every Beijing experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Mubus: Mutianyu Great Wall Bus Tour with Summer Palace Options, Beijing: Top 6 Highlights All Inclusive 2-Day Private Tour, Private Mutianyu Great Wall Trip With English-Speaking Driver. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Beijing?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Beijing?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
