St. Peter's Church
First, this city tour takes you to Munich's oldest church, the Old Peter. The night watchman saw with his own eyes how the devil once hung on the top of Old Peter's tower and fought with the watchman. That is the reason why the tower is still slightly crooked today. After a few steps we are already in the old cemetery and discover stone evidence of the past. What funeral customs were there in the past and where does the saying come from that stinks to heaven?

We cross the old city moat of the 12th century and go to the old city gate at the old town hall. The bean counter was also a good acquaintance of the night watchman.

Alter Hof
Passing the torture chamber and city prison, the city tour goes along the old city wall into Burgstraße to the Alten Hof, the first castle of the Bavarian dukes in Munich. The night watchman was also present at the Impler uprising. The citizens managed to chase the duke out of his castle at short notice.

They seem to cancel their English tours without any communication or recourse
Booked Night Watchman Tour for 05-Sep-2026 20:30 at 22 Marienplatz, Munich. We were present at the meeting point on time. No guide appeared and the merchant's phone was unanswered; Some guides did come for the German tour- they coukd not help us. I emailed the merchant at 20:28 and 21:00 that evening. The service was not provided. I requested a refund on 08-Sep-2026; none received. Unprofessional conduct

Entertaining and informative old town tour at night
In historical attire, with a lantern and halberd, our night watchman leads us through the dark alleys of the old town and brings the history of the city to life. Between Marienplatz and the Frauenkirche, he tells of the plague, executioners, and city gossip from past centuries with dry humor and a lot of detailed knowledge. A wonderfully atmospheric way to get to know Munich beyond the usual tourist paths. Absolute recommendation for anyone who is in the mood for an entertaining and educational evening!

My 9 year old son, husband and I really enjoyed our tour with The Nightwatchman. our guide was very knowledgeable. Learning some of the history of Munich was great and walking the old town courts and passages was majestic. We did however think we might get more ghoulish stories which would have made the tour more exciting. We would recommend to others.
