Do you like olive oil and want to know more about it? This is a nice trip to do it and at the same time discover beautiful landscapes that contrast a lot with the ones on the coast. Spain is the biggest oil producer worldwide and Andalusia is the region known to have the biggest number of olive trees, so if you like olive oil and want to know a bit more about it, you came to the right place. Our tour will start by visiting a centenarian olive plantation, where we will teach you about how to harvest the olives and the traditional tools used in this procedure, a unique experience!

      60 minutes here

    2. Afterwards, we will visit the Periana olive oil cooperative, the most important in the entire Axarquía region. Here, we will discover how olive oil is produced from start to finish and learn to differentiate between its varieties after enjoying a tasting of its finest olive oils, which you can purchase later in the shop.

      60 minutes here

    3. Alfarnate

We will go deeper into Montes de Málaga (Malaga Mountains) and we will have lunch in the oldest inn in Andalusia and enjoy a typical plato de los montes (a typical dish of this area). This place is called el Museo del Bandolero (a bandit museum) and it is a special place with lots of history. After lunch we will visit the villages of Alfarnate and Alfarnatejo, located in what is called los Pirineos de la Axarquía (the Pyrinees of the Axarquia). Both are beautiful villages in the middle of the mountains and surrounded by olive trees. This landscape is completely opposite of those we are used to in the coast.

Olive oil and Mountain tour with Ole Trips

This is our second year doing a small group with Miguel from Ole Trips. There were six of us in the group and we had a fantastic time. We saw and did things that we wouldn’t normally seen. Our last stop was in a small village at the top of the highest mountain in Malaga province. We had a lovely, authentic lunch after tasting olive oil and learning the process of farm to table. Look forward to booking another one next year! Thanks so much for looking after us on our days adventure.

    An Awesome Day

Miguel was an excellent guide. He gave us lots of interesting information and an excellent tour. Occasionally it was hard to hear him from the third row seat of the van. We should have asked him to speak more loudly or maybe a speaker system would've helped. Despite this we really enjoyed our day and learned a lot. We'd tour with Ole and Miguel again anytime.

5* start company based in Nerja

Second time we travelled with Cipriano and Ole Tours. Very highly recommended. Small guide tours in German, Spanish and/or English. Cipriano is a very knowledgable guide tour and the company Ole tours the best tour guide company based in Nerja. We have already booked our third guided tour for June and so looking forward to book others for September. If you are visiting Nerja, join Cipriano in his fantastic tours around the Axarquia.

We enjoyed the olive tour. Highly recommended!

We really appreciated the olive tour. Despite the rainy weather it was a great success. The explanation about the processing of the olives into oil by our guide Miguel was very clear. Tasting the different types of olive oil was also very educational. After a beautiful ride through the mountains with the beautiful landscape we enjoyed a delicious meal at a typical Spanish restaurant. Our friendly and good-humored guide Miguel certainly contributed to this fantastically fun and educational day. Highly recommended!

Exactly as described but beat expectations.

Absolutely fantastic trip, would recommend to any one wanting to explore the area around Malaga a little more. Miguel the guid was informative friendly and made sure everyone had the experience described. Learning about the olive oil process and seeing it happen was truly memorable. And with lunch included the whole day was incredible value for money.

Olive Oil and Mountains Tour: Small group, tasting and lunch!: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Malaga.

How much does Olive Oil and Mountains Tour: Small group, tasting and lunch! cost?

    +

Prices start at $113 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Malaga usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Olive Oil and Mountains Tour: Small group, tasting and lunch! take?

    +

Plan for about 8.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Malaga is not rushed.

Is Olive Oil and Mountains Tour: Small group, tasting and lunch! worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 79 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 37 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Malaga, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Olive Oil and Mountains Tour: Small group, tasting and lunch!?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Olive Oil and Mountains Tour: Small group, tasting and lunch! suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Olive Oil and Mountains Tour: Small group, tasting and lunch!?

    +

Around 13 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Malaga can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Malaga and add a light layer if any part of the 8.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Olive Oil and Mountains Tour: Small group, tasting and lunch! start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Malaga within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Malaga?

    +

On Outty we rank every Malaga experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Malaga City Tour 2 Hours Monumental Segway Tour, Taste of Malaga Tour : Tapas, History and Local Customs, Go local for a day!. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Malaga?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Malaga?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
