    Wonderful day

We have been on many excursions in Madeira, but this was by far our favourite so far. Ricardo is a lovely guy, and so passionate and knowledgeable about his homeland. We visited the north and east of the island and saw several points of interest we had not visited previously. The old Renault 4 was perfect, absolutely immaculate and so many people stopped to admire and take photos. What a lovely car to see the island in! I'm sure we will chose Ricardo again and visit the west next time we are in Madeira. Cannot recommend this trip enough!

    Absolutely amazing

We booked this tour well in advance as I love 70’s and 80’s cars and the Renault 4 is one of my favourites, Ricardo was waiting at reception at the time agreed with the Renault and it looked stunning , excellent condition throughout, Ricardo gave us a warm welcome and off we set . We did the West and North West of the island which seems to be very popular , we soon bumped into the other 4x4 tours which do a similar thing and there were smiles all round. Ricardo is extremely knowledgeable and pleasant , he was born in Madeira and lives in Funchal with his family, the car was extremely comfortable and handled the hills with no problems, was a perfect size for the small side roads and got plenty of attention wherever it went. The tour was very detailed with no pressure, at each stop point you could stay for as little or long a period as you wished and if you wanted food or drink it was no problem, making the whole experience more personable. I even left my phone at one of the cafes and after Ricardo had rang them for confirmation they had it , it was no problem for him to stop by on the return journey. The whole day was amazing , the time went by without clock watching and it was very enjoyable all round, I would recommend this to anyone. Next time we come to Madeira we will definitely be in touch with Ricardo again. Thank you so much.

Response from the operator: Dear Dan, Thank you so much for your kind words and review I truly appreciate. It was a great pleasure to meet you both and guide you through beautiful Madeira in our Renault 4 :) Hope to see you again in beautiful Madeira. Best Wishes Ricardo Freitas

Oldtimer Sightseeing Tour in the West and Northwest: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Funchal.

How much does Oldtimer Sightseeing Tour in the West and Northwest cost?

    +

Prices start at $231 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Funchal usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Oldtimer Sightseeing Tour in the West and Northwest take?

    +

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Funchal is not rushed.

Is Oldtimer Sightseeing Tour in the West and Northwest worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 54 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 4 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Funchal, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Oldtimer Sightseeing Tour in the West and Northwest?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Oldtimer Sightseeing Tour in the West and Northwest suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Oldtimer Sightseeing Tour in the West and Northwest?

    +

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Funchal can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Funchal and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Oldtimer Sightseeing Tour in the West and Northwest start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Funchal within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Funchal?

    +

On Outty we rank every Funchal experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Jeep Tour Amazing West to Natural Pools -Full-Day, Porto Moniz, Seixal, Fanal Forest, Cliff Skywalk in Open Roof 4X4, West Tour-Fanal Forest & Porto Moniz Natural Pools Small Groups. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Funchal?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Funchal?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
