Secondly, After some walk, we go up to Narikala fortress & Mother of Georgia by Cable - car to enjoy the birds-eye views of Tbilisi. After that, by walking down from the fortress, we move to Sulphur Baths, known as the city's heart. We end up at the Leghvtakgevi waterfall.

Narikala Fortress
The tour begins by visiting Narikala fortress, where we will take the cable car and move up to the fortress and enjoy with its amazing architecture and historical sites. According the history the structure was established in the 4th century as a Sasanian citadel called Shuris-tsikhe ( "Invidious Fort"). It was considerably expanded by the Umayyads in the 7th century and later, by king David the Builder (1089–1125). The Mongols renamed it "Narin Qala" (i.e., "Little Fortress"). Most of extant fortifications date from the 16th and 17th centuries. In 1827, parts of the fortress were damaged by an earthquake and demolished. Guests can walk around the castle. From Narikala Fortress you can see two extremely different views. On the one side of the wall you can see a busy, hestic city and on the other side a quiet, peaceful forest known as the Botanical Garden.

Kartlis Deda
The statue was erected on the top of Sololaki hill in 1958.In 1958 Tbilisi celebrated its 1500th anniversary. Prominent Georgian sculptor Elguja Amashukeli designed the twenty-metre aluminium figure of a woman in Georgian national dress. She symbolizes the Georgian national character: in her left hand she holds a bowl of wine to greet those who come as friends, and in her right hand is a sword for those who come as enemies.

From Narikala fortress we will walk down to Abanotubani. According to legend, this place became the reason for the founding of Tbilisi in the 5th century AD. Sulfur water flows naturally from the soil in the Abanotubani area and supplies about 3,000,000 liters of water daily and its average temperature is 47 °.

Legvachtahvi Gorge

After the waterfall we will take the road to Chardin street, the most colorful and favorite street in Tbilisi. Named in honor of Jean Chardin, a French traveler, who traveled to Georgia in the 18th century and returned to his native land with great fascination. This street is famous for its nightlife that lasts until 5 a.m.

Through Rike Park we will visit the St. Mary's Cathedral of Metekhi, located on the left bank of the river Mtkvari. According to the legend, the remains of St. Shushanik can be found here. You will hear interesting information as there is a statue of Vakhtang Gorgasali situated in the yard of the Metekhi Temple.

History, sites and wine!
We had a great afternoon with Irina. She was so knowledgeable and provided us with a fascinating walking tour of the city. The stops were perfectly spaced to allow time to see sights and learn about the history of the city. Irina was amazing and I would highly recommend this tour as a introduction to the city. The wine tasting stop was a great addition as well!

Great tour of old Tbilisi!
We had a wonderful experience and learned so much! Irina was a fantastic guide and very knowledgeable. She also pivoted and was flexible including stopping for a much needed air-conditioned break for refreshments due to the heat, and showing us a beautiful synagogue our group wanted to see, and substituting it for another planned stop. The wine tasting at the end was very fun! Thank you!! Highly recommend.
