100/10 experience, cannot recommend it enough!
You will see a few reviews on the same account but I assure you everyone had a grand and lovely experience! And it seemed like Viator wasn't letting my friends leave reviews since I bought all the tickets on this account. Which is not at all the fault of our lovely guide Leftheria. Leftheria was very knowledgeable on the history of Athens. I have never been on a food tour before and The Old Athens Food Tour being my first was such a gift! I am super grateful to have learned so much from someone so personable and kind. Being my first time in Athens, I of course had no knowledge of the quaint cafes, lovely pastries and some of the best food joints in town. Even my pals who frequent Athens had no idea these places were there. 3 hours didn't feel like enough time honestly. I would absolutely pay to take some of my family and other friends on this tour. I also dream of the food and would 100% go again. And a bonus, Leftheria will even treat you to a coffee ground reading. It was such a treat to learn about history and history was not my favorite subject! If you find yourself in Athens and you're hungry...This is THE ultimate food tour. -Aleana Williams -Jeannie Vandenberg's review Leftheria was the tour guide. Here is my review: The food tour was wonderful!! It was easy to find the meeting spot. We made many stops to taste the bites of Athens. We also learned Athens and Greek history as it relates to the food, particularly in regards to the areas we visited. The food descriptions and preparation information was quite informative. All questions were answered. My special diet was well honored. Each stop painted a portion of the entire Athens food arena. The first stop was coffee and I was shocked at how much fun the whole group had and how much we learned. This set the theme for the entire tour. Every stop brought new delights for us. I highly recommend this tour for the guide's extreme warm personality, the wonderful food, and all the information provided. -Ole Skotvold's review This old school Athens food tour was a 3 hour guided food tour of some of Athens long time coffee, bakeries and food stops that are mixed in with everything Athens has to offer. We may have walked past these restaurants on our own, not knowing the best they had to offer. A link to follow on maps provides the location to meet up with guide, Leftheria for the walking tour covering 5 or 6 stops. Leftheria provided interesting points along the way and a brief history of the shops visited. We are normally conservative when eating out. just Greek salad and Gyros; identifiable by pictures, so I was delighted to be introduced to items we would never go out on a limb to order, everything was explained in English which was a big help. I do have a favorite item which I took a picture of, then in photo details I can locate where the bakery was to lead me back to it. Another favorite stop because I didn't expect it, was little dough balls deep fried with a sweet surprise inside. All in all, it was a rewarding experience and I highly recommend this tour.

The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Old-School Athens Food Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Athens.
How much does Old-School Athens Food Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $60 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Athens usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Old-School Athens Food Tour take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Athens is not rushed.
Is Old-School Athens Food Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 54 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 1 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Athens, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Old-School Athens Food Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Old-School Athens Food Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Old-School Athens Food Tour?
+
Around 0 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Athens can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Athens and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Old-School Athens Food Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Athens within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Athens?
+
On Outty we rank every Athens experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Athens Small Group E-Bike Tour, Small Group Greek Traditional Food Tour in Athens 20+ Tastings, Athens Scenic Bike Tour with Regular or Electric Bike + Acropolis. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Athens?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Athens?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
