    1. Old Perithia | Corfu's Oldest Village

Old Perithia, also known as the ghost village, has in the later years become one of the most popular places to visit in Corfu. It was built in the 14th century in the Pantokrator mountainsides, well-protected from the pirate attacks, it was at the time buzzing with life and wealth, as the inhabitants dealt mainly with farming lands and livestock. With the rise of tourism, the locals began to leave the mountain, headed for the more popular coastal resorts, until the village was fully abandoned. In the later years the village has seen a slight revival and there are restaurants serving local specialities, for those of you wishing to stop for lunch.

Nice village between past and present - WATCH OUT for your phone plan!

We thought we’d discover a ghost village, but there’s a great vitality: a few restaurants and shops allow visitors to linger and enjoy the place to the fullest. It is even possible to stay overnight. On the other hand, WARNING to all European visitors: as soon as you arrive, the phones automatically connect to the Albanian network. Many of us had the unpleasant surprise of a non-package package — fortunately limited to €30, or up to €60 for some. Operators sometimes accept exceptional reimbursement, but it seems that vigilance is incumbent on users rather than the network, which does not provide any specific alert to avoid this trap.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your review!

Recommend a visit to this eery and excellent location

Third visit to this outstanding location. Always a pleasure visiting, to see the old architecture and take in the sights of what this town used to be. Would recommend dining here at one of the tavernas in the old town.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your review!indeed is outstanding location and always a good idea to dining there!

    real ghost town!!

We visited this place in June 2024 (how hot!) very interesting and a little distressing place, we had a great Guide, not too easy to reach and not suitable for those with walking problems..... but an experience to do! After the visit I highly Recommendation the sausage and friarielli sandwich in the adjacent kiosk, where you will find sympathy and cold drinks ..

    Amazing tour of Old Perithia

I wanted to organise something from the norm as a day trip for some friends and after discussing this with Spiro we decided a day trip to Old Perithia in the Northern part of the island was the place. Spiro toured us along the coastal road highliting a number of places of interest with his great knowledge of the island and then walked us around the old Ghost Town of Old Perithia and explaining a lot about the history of the area. A fantastic and memorable day, thank you Spiro !!

How long does Old Perithia the Ghost Town and Northeast of Corfu take?

    +

Is Old Perithia the Ghost Town and Northeast of Corfu worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 58 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Corfu, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Corfu and add a light layer if any part of the 4.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Corfu?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Corfu?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
