Outstanding guide and delicious masala chai and street food!

Mr Jai Singh is an exceptionally knowledgeable heritage walk guide in Delhi. What truly stands out is his genuine passion for sharing the city’s history—he brings Delhi to life through engaging stories about its cultural evolution, architecture, and the people who shaped it. Unlike many typical tours, there is absolutely no forced shopping. In fact, none of the shopkeepers seem to be linked with him, making this a truly authentic heritage walk rather than a commission-driven experience often seen in tourist destinations. Jai is a history buff, and it clearly shows in the depth of his knowledge and enthusiasm. He conducts these walks out of a sincere interest in helping visitors understand and appreciate Delhi better. He is articulate, patient, and especially great with old people—making a real effort to explain concepts logical. Our walk lasted a little over 2.5 hours and covered several key landmarks, including Jama masjid, Chandni Chowk, Spice market, and lesser-known gems like old mansions known a Havelis. His storytelling was interactive and easy to follow, making the experience both educational and enjoyable. During the tour, he stopped at genuine eateries and Tea tasting spots for us to explore the flavours of the old town. Overall, I would highly recommend this walking tour if you’re interested in a meaningful and authentic heritage walk experience in Delhi.

Amazing street foods and the best walking companion

We had a fantastic time with Mr Jai Singh, sampling some amazing street food all within easy walking distance of each other. Everything we ate was delicious and we were assured that Jai Singh knew what was suitable for an European stomach! He was a fabulous host and a great walk your companion. Highly recommended if you love good food and also want to bust many negative stereotypes about Indian street food

A Chance to get organic raw spices from Asia's biggest spice market

250 years old Spice market was amazing and offers a chance to carryback home precious Spices of India. From the beginning to the end, the walk was exhilarating and intriguing. So many wonders from the past like ancient building with generations living inside them over a long period of time, like several centuries.

Old Delhi's heritage, Spice market, Masala Chai & food sampling: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for New Delhi.

How much does Old Delhi's heritage, Spice market, Masala Chai & food sampling cost?

    +

Prices start at $39 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in New Delhi usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Old Delhi's heritage, Spice market, Masala Chai & food sampling take?

    +

Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in New Delhi is not rushed.

Is Old Delhi's heritage, Spice market, Masala Chai & food sampling worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 72 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 31 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in New Delhi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Old Delhi's heritage, Spice market, Masala Chai & food sampling?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Old Delhi's heritage, Spice market, Masala Chai & food sampling suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Old Delhi's heritage, Spice market, Masala Chai & food sampling?

    +

Around 11 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in New Delhi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in New Delhi and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Old Delhi's heritage, Spice market, Masala Chai & food sampling start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central New Delhi within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in New Delhi?

    +

On Outty we rank every New Delhi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Taj Mahal & Agra Private Tour By AC Car From Delhi with 5* Meal, Taj Mahal & Agra Fort Private Day Trip From Delhi with 5* Lunch, Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and Baby Taj Day Tour from Delhi by Car. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit New Delhi?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in New Delhi?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
