Disappointing
I've given this a few days to think about our experience, and the more I think about it, the more I get upset. The lack of customer service from the crew was disappointing. Also, the Captain that was mentioned in the booking was not even present. We were not met at the gate like we were told, so we went down the pier to find our boat. That is when Amber came up to us & asked if we were on this boat. I told her yes & she invited us on the boat. She did not validate we were who we said we were nor check to make sure we had our fishing licenses. She told us Sam would be there soon & to hang out until he did. When he boarded the boat, he didn't even introduce himself, he just started working on getting the fishing poles ready. It wasn't until we were out at sea that he started talking to us & gave us our instructions if one of the lines got a bite. After that, he said he'd be upstairs with Amber diving the boat looking for fish. I understand that to a point, but he stayed up there a majority of the time. I tried to go to there with my daughter's boyfriend to have some type of interaction with Amber & Sam. It was very short conversation, but they were very much into their own conversation, so we headed back down. The entire 4 hr trip, we didn't even get to touch a pole or have a meaningful conversation with either of them. On top of that, my son got sick, and the lack of empathy or checking in to see how he was doing was also disappointing - just a sorry that he felt sick at the end of our trip. I would not recommend this private charter for the price I paid. I don't even mind that we didn't catch anything. The lack of hospitality was mind blowing. This crew needs to learn that it's about the customer experience, not solely about getting a catch.

Subpar at best
We took our trip in June. We caught, and had one bite, of a marlin. We’ve only one other fishing trip to compare. It was taken in FL. But they were complete opposite. On this trip you head out in one direction, look for birds, and hope you can catch a fish where the birds are. You then turn around and head back in the same direction. No veering off to look in other areas, no slowing down, just a constant pace and constant trolling. You don’t have live bait, you don’t cast a line, and when a fish bites the crew calls you and you reel in to a certain point then they take over. You only keep half your fish weight. Our trip was 6hrs in the morning. We had one bite, one catch. The boat was great for a large group. The crew were great. Very personable and hands on when a passenger got ill. Very pleased with them. The captain was blah. Did not converse with passengers unless asked a question. Did not explain our route, if fish were in area, basically ‘drove’ the boat. ‘Drove’ in quotes bc 1/3 of the time he left the wheel. You literally just went straight. The two crew had more ‘captain’ leadership than the captain. The captain also told us there was no one in the Waikīkī area that would freeze and ship our fish. When we did our own research we found three places that actually did that. Would I pick this trip again, no way! Find a smaller boat where you actually do your own fishing, the captain makes an effort to find the school of fish. And you use LIVE bait.

A great day
Mike and Kahi are a fantastic crew. We have been fishing with them before and enjoy there company, the care they give to the sea, the boat and us. The waters were very challenging this year with the amount of rain they received the weeks prior, but they worked the water and birds to help my son catch his first MahiMahi. We had a great day on the water and will absolutely reach out for a fishing trip next time we’re visiting Oahu.
Response from the operator: Our dream team! Thanks for such a kind review and we are thrilled to hear your son was able to get a Mahi onboard! We love hearing of experiences like this and hope you’re able to join us again one day soon.

Why this scores 40
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Offshore Fishing Adventures With Ohana Deep Sea Fishing: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Oahu.
How much does Offshore Fishing Adventures With Ohana Deep Sea Fishing cost?
+
Prices start at $1360 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Oahu usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Offshore Fishing Adventures With Ohana Deep Sea Fishing take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Oahu is not rushed.
Is Offshore Fishing Adventures With Ohana Deep Sea Fishing worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 40 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (2.7/5 across 3 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Oahu, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Offshore Fishing Adventures With Ohana Deep Sea Fishing?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Offshore Fishing Adventures With Ohana Deep Sea Fishing suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Offshore Fishing Adventures With Ohana Deep Sea Fishing?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Oahu can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Oahu and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Offshore Fishing Adventures With Ohana Deep Sea Fishing start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Oahu within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Oahu?
+
On Outty we rank every Oahu experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Oahu: Full or Half Day Grand Circle Island Tour, Oahu Small-Group Circle Island Tour with Turtle Snorkeling, Pearl Harbor Remembered Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Oahu?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Oahu?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
