About this experience
Singaporeans originated from different countries and cultures, and this is what gives us our unique identity today. With this tour, we aim to take visitors beyond the city, on a cultural tour of the island. We begin in the local neighborhood of Ang Mo Kio, with a little known hobby that transcended the kampong era: Bird Singing. Brighten your morning with melodious chirps, followed by a visit to the local ‘Hawker Centre’ for coffee like a true local. The local exploration continues with a visit to a wet market and a hawker centre. After visiting the first neighborhood, we will proceed to another neighborhood, "Toa Payoh". Here, we will see the hustle and bustle of a local town centre. We will see an interesting "Tree Shrine" and we will also get to visit a HDB showflat. HDB Flats are public housings where 80% of the local population stays in. At the end of the tour, we can guarantee that all our guests will know everything about Singapore and the lifestyle of the locals.

A Hidden Gem of a Tour — Authentic Singapore at Its Best
If you’re tired of the usual tourist trail and want to experience the real Singapore, look no further. Our guide Jasmine delivered an absolutely wonderful tour that took us deep into the heart of everyday Singaporean life. Our first stop was Ang Mo Kio, where Jasmine introduced us to a truly unique local tradition — the “singing bird” club, where residents gather to showcase their prized songbirds. It’s the kind of place most visitors would never stumble upon on their own, and it was utterly fascinating. Jasmine’s knowledge of the culture and history behind this beloved pastime was impressive, and her enthusiasm was infectious. We also got a wonderful introduction to local breakfast culture and the iconic hawker scene — the beating heart of Singaporean food culture. Jasmine explained the history and social significance of hawker centres with such warmth and depth that we left feeling like we truly understood what makes this city tick. Getting between locations via public transport was an unexpected highlight in itself. Jasmine made the journey feel like part of the tour, and navigating the system alongside locals gave us a genuine taste of daily life here. Our final stop at Toa Payoh Hub offered a fascinating insight into Singapore’s renowned public housing programme. Learning about the HDB (Housing Development Board) story — how millions of Singaporeans live, community life, and the urban planning behind it all — was genuinely eye-opening. Throughout the entire tour, Jasmine was the perfect guide: knowledgeable, polished, and wonderfully attentive to our needs. She struck exactly the right balance between sharing information and giving us space to soak it all in. If you’re after an off-the-beaten-track experience that connects you with the soul of Singapore, this tour is an absolute must. Highly recommended!
Response from the operator: Hi Andrea, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review. I truly appreciate your kind words and support, and I’m very grateful to hear that both of you enjoyed the tour. It was such a pleasure having you along and sharing the heartland stories and local experiences with you. Your encouragement really means a lot to me and motivates me to continue creating meaningful and enjoyable tours for guests visiting Singapore. I hope the memories from the tour stay with you, and I would love to welcome you again in the future 😊 Regards Jasmine

Customized Tour of Singapore
Jasmine Tan was our tour guide and she was fantastic. After talking with her she designed and organized a great tour specifically for us, which included local culture experiences, from visiting a great spice shop, the bird club, China town, Buddhist and Hindu temples. Her knowledge of Singapore made the tour tremendously meaningful. One of our favorite stops was at the local market where we drank coffee out of tin cans and sampled local pastries that were amazing. Additionally, Jasmine was very proactive with photos knowing some of the really great photo locations and ensuring we had a set of photos which we will refer too often to remember the great Singapore experiences. When in Singapore we highly recommend Jasmine Tan and Oriental Travel and Tours to enhance you Singapore experience.

Why this scores 56
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Off-the-Beaten Track tour across 2 interesting local neighbourhood: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Singapore.
How much does Off-the-Beaten Track tour across 2 interesting local neighbourhood cost?
+
Prices start at $97 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Singapore usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Off-the-Beaten Track tour across 2 interesting local neighbourhood take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Singapore is not rushed.
Is Off-the-Beaten Track tour across 2 interesting local neighbourhood worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 56 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 3 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Singapore, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Off-the-Beaten Track tour across 2 interesting local neighbourhood?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Off-the-Beaten Track tour across 2 interesting local neighbourhood suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Off-the-Beaten Track tour across 2 interesting local neighbourhood?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Singapore can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Singapore and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Off-the-Beaten Track tour across 2 interesting local neighbourhood start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Singapore within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Singapore?
+
On Outty we rank every Singapore experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Singapore Highlights Small Group Bike Tour on Full-Sized Bicycles, Lion City Bike Tour of Singapore, Singapore River Cruise, Night Garden Rhapsody & Spectra by CYT. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Singapore?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Singapore?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
