    About this experience

If you’ve ever googled the “Must-eats” of Singapore, you would already be familiar with the typical fare - chicken rice, carrot cake, roti prata, satay etc. Most tours bring you to try these touristy dishes, dishes you already knew about and could probably find yourself. What I am offering is something different from the usual tourist fare, something “Off the Menu”. If you are looking for a truly authentic culinary experience, you have come to the right place. No one knows Singapore’s food better than a local himself. My tours are intimate, personal, and designed to make you feel like you're eating with a local friend, far beyond the typical tourist trail. You will learn about interesting dishes you have never heard of and taste at least 10 of the city’s best hidden gems. We will also make a few stops at interesting attractions such as Singapore’s own army market which will give you an insight into our local culture and history.

    We'll be back!

There were three of us for dinner at the Hotel Ostermann. The menu is very rich, and there is something for every taste. The price-performance ratio is reasonable. The staff were very friendly, and also responded to extra requests (e.g. pepper sauce to the STeak) in consultation with the kitchen. This Service was even free!!!! We spent a very nice evening at the Hotel Ostermann!

Fabulous food tour with great guide.

Chi an was a fabulous tour guide through the less touristy food centres in Singapore. He was an absolute delight to be with. He looked after us very well and was so respectful, polite and knowledgeable about Singaporean food and culture. We highly recommend Chi an to anyone wanting to experience a fabulous eating tour through this diverse city.

Great food tastings with an excellent local guide!

I cannot recommend this food tour enough! Chi An gave us the best time, it was the perfect introduction to Singaporean food and city knowledge. We visited a multitude of different eateries across Kampong Glam and Little India, it didn't feel rushed or we was visiting the usual tourist haunts. Chi An came across as a personal friend and really made the experience special for us. Thankyou so much!

    Fun and Informative Food Tour

We thoroughly enjoyed our food tour with Chi An. We made six separate stops and tried about 15 or 16 different food and beverage items. Chi An ensured that we tried a combination of typical Singaporean items as well as some more exotic dishes. We also appreciated Chi An for revising his itinerary to accommodate my wife who is a vegetarian. During our food stops, we had plenty of time to talk not only about the food, but also about the daily life of Singaporeans. Overall, the tour was fun and informative. We highly recommend it.

Off the Menu: Singapore Authentic Food Tour with Local Student: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Singapore.

How much does Off the Menu: Singapore Authentic Food Tour with Local Student cost?

    +

Prices start at $150 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Singapore usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Off the Menu: Singapore Authentic Food Tour with Local Student take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Singapore is not rushed.

Is Off the Menu: Singapore Authentic Food Tour with Local Student worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 7 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Singapore, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Off the Menu: Singapore Authentic Food Tour with Local Student?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Off the Menu: Singapore Authentic Food Tour with Local Student suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Off the Menu: Singapore Authentic Food Tour with Local Student?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Singapore can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Singapore and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Off the Menu: Singapore Authentic Food Tour with Local Student start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Singapore within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Singapore?

    +

On Outty we rank every Singapore experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Singapore Highlights Small Group Bike Tour on Full-Sized Bicycles, Lion City Bike Tour of Singapore, Singapore River Cruise, Night Garden Rhapsody & Spectra by CYT. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Singapore?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Singapore?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
