Not What Was Advertised-Very Disappointing Experience!
We booked this excursion expecting the beautiful, well-maintained beach club experience shown in the promotional photos and description. It's advertised as a relaxing upscale (we purchased the VIP for 20.00 more), with pristine sand, comfortable loungers, attentive service, and quality amenities. Unfortunately, what we experienced was very different. The photos are VERY deceiving - BEWARE. The property is run down and not well-maintained. The beach was much smaller and rocky - you have to walk past 2-3 feet of huge rocks/boulders to get to the area where there is sand and it's level. The overall condition did not reflect the clean, tropical setting shown in the photos. The seating/loungers were worn and outdated, it was roughly build and worn, more like makeshift wooden chairs than the "comfortable loungers you would expect from a VIP beach club. The loungers were plastic and ripped in several places. We were told this was due to the storm damage, which is understandable-but if that's the case, the advertising should be updated to reflect the current conditions. The experience sold does NOT match what is actually delivered. Wifi was only "working/available" in one small spot at the gift shop beside the mannequin, where I was literally told "stand there lady" in order to get a signal. This was not what we expected as advertised wifi available. One example of misleading advertising is a promo photo of a girl surronded by shot glasses on a tray and 2 people beside her. She gathers all the visitors around her, pours a shot of vodka and run in a glass, asks the 2 people beside her to dance in a circle and then everyone drinks their shot. It was awful. This lasted a few minutes and did not reflect what the photo suggests. No bartender mixology-vodka and rum with soft drinks coke, diet coke or pepsi, or punch. That's your choices. They used real glasses (very nice touch) but they were washing them by hand with water at the drink station in a bucket. We then choose plastice glasses. No demonstrations - other than the shot glass girl. No sparlking drink on arrival, no music playing when we arrived. It started later and then shut down. This is not about preference or minor differences - we simply did not receive the experience we paid for (99.00 USD per person for VIP). If it was accurately represented, we would of not booked it. I STRONGLY recommend future guests read recent reviews carefully before booking, even through a cruise ship or resort representative. They have not visited the venue.

Don’t waste your money
It was overcast the day we had booked once on the bus they closed the doors and informed us we wouldn’t be allowed in the water and we had to sign a form we refused and got off the bus. Don’t waste your money on a beach trip that won’t let you get into the water.

Horrible! Ruined our time in Jamaica! Stay away from Bamboo Beach Club!
We purchased the “VIP” Dunn’s River Falls and Bamboo Beach Club excursion on NCL Escape 2/11/2026. Dunn’s River was beautiful but once we got back on the bus and rode for over an hour to the beach that is when our vacation was ruined. There were about 12 other buses and vans parked in a very small beach area. We were rushed past the VIP section that was full to the other end of the beach. No shade at all provided. We had to wait in line to get our own drinks. We were served our appetizer about an hour after arriving then only when we could get the attention of our server did we receive the other 2 items at the very same time. We were there much longer than was stated and when we (several of the guest) told the manager we needed to leave to get back to the ship, he said you are on island time don’t worry the ship won’t leave you. He was taking advantage of NCL and the other 4,000 plus people on the Escape to be at his timing! This was a truly horrible experience. We have also notified NCL. DO NOT BOOK Bamboo Beach Club!!! Forgot to mention you can’t get in the water without shoes! Rocks rocks rocks!

A great family excursion
I've been to Jamaica 3 times and would highly recommend this excursion. Karissa was our hostess, George or bus driver and Ken Roy or tubing guide. All 3 made our day perfect and fun. Professionalism outstanding. Would highly recommend.

Why this scores 74
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Ocho Rios: Bamboo Beach Club VIP Access with Lunch and Cocktails: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Ocho Rios.
How much does Ocho Rios: Bamboo Beach Club VIP Access with Lunch and Cocktails cost?
+
Prices start at $85 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Ocho Rios usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Ocho Rios: Bamboo Beach Club VIP Access with Lunch and Cocktails take?
+
Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Ocho Rios is not rushed.
Is Ocho Rios: Bamboo Beach Club VIP Access with Lunch and Cocktails worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 74 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.4/5 across 107 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Ocho Rios, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Ocho Rios: Bamboo Beach Club VIP Access with Lunch and Cocktails?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Ocho Rios: Bamboo Beach Club VIP Access with Lunch and Cocktails suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Ocho Rios: Bamboo Beach Club VIP Access with Lunch and Cocktails?
+
Around 37 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Ocho Rios can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Ocho Rios and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Ocho Rios: Bamboo Beach Club VIP Access with Lunch and Cocktails start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Ocho Rios within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Ocho Rios?
+
On Outty we rank every Ocho Rios experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Blue Hole only-from Ocho Rios, Ocho Rios Blue Hole and Dunn's River Falls Tour, Blue Hole and Dunn’s River Falls Tour with Lunch and Cocktails at Reggae Hill. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Ocho Rios?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Ocho Rios?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
