What you get
About this experience
We combine the expertise of dedicated aurora hunters with an exceptional focus on comfort and a cozy, shared experience. While all tours chase the lights, our guides are specialists in local microclimates and real-time solar activity. We don't just drive to a fixed spot; we use dynamic routing to find the clearest, darkest patch of sky, maximizing your viewing chances far away from the city's light pollution. The journey itself is part of the experience. You travel in a comfortable, warm vehicle and enjoy the famous Icelandic hospitality with a complimentary hot chocolate as you wait beneath the stars. This transforms the hunt into a relaxed, memorable gathering with fellow travelers. You leave the stress of driving on dark, icy roads to us, allowing you to focus completely on the sky.

What you'll see and do
Reykjavik
Board a warm bus in Reykjavík and leave the bright city lights behind. We head into the dark Icelandic countryside in search of the magical Northern Lights. Your journey includes a relaxing drive through quiet landscapes, where the possibility of the aurora dancing across the sky is high. Along the way, your guide will share fascinating insights about Iceland, its folklore, and the science behind the aurora borealis. As we find the best viewing spot, chosen based on weather and visibility, you will be invited to step outside and look up at the vast, starry sky. To keep you comfortable while you wait, we will serve hot chocolate. With luck, the sky will come alive in dramatic shades of green, purple, and pink, creating memories you will cherish forever. While nature’s schedule can never be guaranteed, our experienced team will do everything possible to maximize your chances of a sighting.

Unlucky but happy
Even though we were unable to see the Northern lights, the team members were amazing chasing the best spots. Chocolate and pastries were delicious.
Response from the operator: Thank you for joining us! We're thrilled you enjoyed the chocolate and pastries while we hunted for the lights. We hope to see you again for a successful sighting next time!

Amazing experience
It was a great experience with Karol. We almost had very little to no activity with the lights on our trip, but Karol was persistent and even extended the tour slightly to ensure we saw the lights and got a photo. We had an amazing experience overall.

No lights and too long
No time frame provided so I had no idea we’d be home so late. No lights- lots of waiting around! Do not go!

We had just gotten to...
We had just gotten to Iceland and it was our first tour. Our driver saw the northern lights right away and we were not even to the first stopping point. We got so many great pictures. It was the perfect beginning to an amazing trip.

Definitely recommend to do.
Well organised and fun tour with Nebo, despite only seeing one light it was still a good time as one is better than none. Pastries, hot chocolate and photos included, travel time not bad, would definitely recommend.

Why this scores 70
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Northern Lights Tour: Cozy Night Adventure with Hot Chocolate: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Reykjavik.
How much does Northern Lights Tour: Cozy Night Adventure with Hot Chocolate cost?
+
Prices start at $81 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Reykjavik usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Northern Lights Tour: Cozy Night Adventure with Hot Chocolate take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Reykjavik is not rushed.
Is Northern Lights Tour: Cozy Night Adventure with Hot Chocolate worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 70 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 24 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Reykjavik, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Northern Lights Tour: Cozy Night Adventure with Hot Chocolate?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Northern Lights Tour: Cozy Night Adventure with Hot Chocolate suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Northern Lights Tour: Cozy Night Adventure with Hot Chocolate?
+
Around 8 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Reykjavik can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Reykjavik and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Northern Lights Tour: Cozy Night Adventure with Hot Chocolate start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Reykjavik within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Reykjavik?
+
On Outty we rank every Reykjavik experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Reykjavik Food Walk - Local Foodie Adventure in Iceland, Small-Group Golden Circle, Blue Lagoon with Ticket & Kerid Crater, Reykjavík Small group Walking Tour - by CityWalk. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Reykjavik?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Reykjavik?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
