Great way to see the Northern lights!

Great trip! Loved our guide Keli. Was very dedicated to making sure we had a great time and an amazing view of the lights. Very knowledgeable and engaging about the history and culture of Iceland. Took many excellent photos of us under the lights, and was efficient in getting us the photos the next day. Highly recommend.

Family friendly lovely tour with Birgir

We took private 10 seat super jeep northern lights tour with Birgir. We travelled with 3 little ones and my elderly mother. Birgir went above and beyond assisting us with car seats, ensuring everyone could get in and out of the car safely, and making everyone as comfortable as possible with his hot chocolate, entertaining Icelandic stories and history, and parking the jeep to minimize the intense winds. He was patient and knowledgeable, and we got an amazing lights show. As someone who is not easily impressed, this tour gets 10/10 hands down! Thank you super jeep and Birgir!

Northern Lights Superjeep Tour from Reykjavik by Superjeep.is / Iceland

An Unforgettable Night Hunting the Aurora: Superjeep.is If you are traveling to Iceland and want to see the Northern Lights during a winter trip, booking a Northern Lights Superjeep Tour from Reykjavik by Superjeep.is is, without a doubt, the best decision you can make! We just returned from a magical 4-hour excursion (roughly 9:00 PM – 1:30 AM) and cannot say enough good things about the experience. It is worth every single króna of the price, which, based on 3/2026 rates, is roughly $230 USD per adult. Flexible Pick Up & Professional Service The convenience started right at the beginning. They offer flexible, prompt pick up directly from hotels or designated bus stops in Reykjavik (Bus Stop 1 or Cathedral) around 21:00–21:30, ensuring a stress-free start to the late-night hunt. Unlike the huge tour buses that are restricted to main roads, the Superjeep is a beast—specially modified with massive tires that allow you to go off-road into the remote wilderness, far away from light pollution. Patient & Expert Guides Our guide Chrissie was an absolute legend—patient, knowledgeable, Icelandic humor and genuinely committed to finding the very best viewing spot. Even when the lights were faint, he didn't just give up. He tracked the cloud coverage and moved us to multiple locations until the sky cleared always in contact with other 'hunters". They knew exactly where to go, passing all the crowded, standard bus stops to get us to a private, pitch-black area. Drinking Warm Chocolate Under the Stars While waiting for the aurora, the atmosphere was incredible. The guide set up a tripod for professional photos of us with the lights. To keep us warm against the biting Icelandic winter cold and wind, they served steaming, delicious warm chocolate—and yes, it was the perfect touch, especially when offered with a little splash of vodka to warm your soul!. Seeing the Aurora Borealis Seeing the Northern Lights dance across the sky was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Thanks to the expertise of the Superjeep guide, we saw the Aurora swirl in vibrant colors. If you are looking for an intimate, thrilling, and successful Aurora hunt, skip the big buses and go with Superjeep.is. It is a premium, high-quality experience that we will never forget! Highlights: Price: ~230+ USD (as of 3/2026, often includes free re-booking if lights aren't seen) Time: ca. 4 hour evening adventure (typically starts around 21:00pm) Pick-up: Flexible hotel/stop pickup Atmosphere: Small, intimate groups, patient guides, and amazing off-roading

    The Northern Lights were spectacular

We were lucky enough to see the lights after racing to at least 3 different locations outside Reykjavik. The guide had a decent camera and tripod in order to take photos of us with the lights in the background and gave us a link to be able to download his photos. He was helpful in showing us the best settings to use on our phone cameras as well. A thoughtful touch was a cup of hot chocolate with vodka to keep us warm at midnight.

    Great Northern Light Hunters

Seeing the Northern Lights is a once in a lifetime experience. If the conditions are right, Reykjavik is a good place to go and engage the right people to help find them for you. This outfit is first rate and well worth hiring. They were determined to find cloud openings and give our small group a first class experience. And they did it with humor and fun as we chased around the countryside for the best place that night to see the Lights. Once there, they took great fotos for us and let us linger until we were all satisfied. I highly recommend this company.

Northern Lights Superjeep Tour from Reykjavik: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Reykjavik.

How much does Northern Lights Superjeep Tour from Reykjavik cost?

    +

Prices start at $249 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Reykjavik usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Northern Lights Superjeep Tour from Reykjavik take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Reykjavik is not rushed.

Is Northern Lights Superjeep Tour from Reykjavik worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 76 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 330 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Reykjavik, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Northern Lights Superjeep Tour from Reykjavik?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Northern Lights Superjeep Tour from Reykjavik suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Northern Lights Superjeep Tour from Reykjavik?

    +

Around 115 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Reykjavik can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Reykjavik and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Northern Lights Superjeep Tour from Reykjavik start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Reykjavik within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Reykjavik?

    +

On Outty we rank every Reykjavik experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Reykjavik Food Walk - Local Foodie Adventure in Iceland, Small-Group Golden Circle, Blue Lagoon with Ticket & Kerid Crater, Reykjavík Small group Walking Tour - by CityWalk. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Reykjavik?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Reykjavik?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
