Mixed experience – great tours, but poor organization and lots of waiting
We booked several tours with Nordic Unique Travel and had a mixed experience overall. The actual tours themselves were very good. Once we were out on the tour with the guide, the experience was enjoyable, informative, and well worth it. This was definitely the strongest part of the company. However, a significant downside was the amount of time spent waiting around, which felt like it made up almost 50% of the experience. We spent a lot of time waiting for other guests to arrive, waiting for transportation, and standing around in large groups. This often meant tours started late and felt far less personalized than expected. The experience at the office was also quite chaotic. Communication was not great, and it often felt disorganized with no clear management presence. At the end of one tour, the shuttle bus did not arrive as planned, leaving us standing outside in very cold conditions while alternative transport was arranged. Unfortunately, there were no apologies or clear explanations offered. The tours did not feel particularly personalized, and it didn’t come across as a locally run operation, which was disappointing given the premium feel suggested when booking. My advice to future travelers: Do your research into the group sizes, how much time is actually spent on the tour versus waiting for others, and the level of personalization you’re looking for. If you’re okay with larger groups and some logistical inefficiencies, you may still enjoy the tour content itself — but be prepared for delays and disorganization outside of the actual tour time.

I enjoyed this tour and recommend it!
Tour: Northern Lights Snowmobile Hunt - I enjoyed this tour and recommend it! It was a little chaotic when everyone was getting their overalls, but this is common when there’s such a large group. The tour was still very organized and the guides were very knowledgeable. Upon arrival at the start point, the guides explained us how to safely operate the snowmobile. After we ride for a while, we stopped to set up the fire, grill some sausages, and search for the northern lights. It was like -19°C outside! Some people decided to leave earlier and unfortunately, missed the northern lights. Weather wasn’t in our favor, but at least we were able to see them. With this being said, be prepared to spend multiple hours outside and layer-up. The overalls are good but you still need to wear all other layers, to include a down jacket if it’s very cold. For the return, those that wanted to go ‘faster’ were grouped together, which was very cool. Overall, I liked that we were never rushed, enabled to soak-in our surroundings, and enjoy the experience. Thanks!

Excellent trip!
Andrea L was a great guide. We had the best time and got plenty pictures of the lights. He was great with the children and was extremely friendly and welcoming. Well worth the money!!! 😊

Great experience although a little pricey
Great experience although northern lights weren’t visible. The actual snowmobiling is about 30-45 mins.

Why this scores 62
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Northern Lights Snowmobile Hunt: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Rovaniemi.
How much does Northern Lights Snowmobile Hunt cost?
+
Prices start at $129 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Rovaniemi usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Northern Lights Snowmobile Hunt take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Rovaniemi is not rushed.
Is Northern Lights Snowmobile Hunt worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 62 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.3/5 across 71 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Rovaniemi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Northern Lights Snowmobile Hunt?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Northern Lights Snowmobile Hunt suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Northern Lights Snowmobile Hunt?
+
Around 25 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Rovaniemi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Rovaniemi and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Northern Lights Snowmobile Hunt start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Rovaniemi within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Rovaniemi?
+
On Outty we rank every Rovaniemi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Northern Lights Rovaniemi: Guaranteed Viewing & Unlimited Mileage, Rovaniemi: Korouoma Canyon & Frozen Waterfalls Tour with BBQ, Rovaniemi:%100 Guaranteed Northern Lights Hunt&Free Photos. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Rovaniemi?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Rovaniemi?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
