    A truly magical experience!

Knowing that seeing the northern lights in late August would be a challenge, I booked this private tour with Happyworld, figuring it would give us the best chance. Þröstur used his knowledge and expertise to find the right location for the aurora on our tight schedule! It was truly a magical experience! He did a wonderful job keeping all of us, including our 7- and 10-year-old kids, engaged and excited throughout the night. We feel incredibly lucky to have seen the aurora, and we have Þröstur and the team to thank for making it happen. The hot chocolate was amazing and the photos are wonderful keepsakes! We couldn’t have asked for a better experience!

    Once in a lifetime experience!

Our private tour was an amazing experience! Our guide, Þröstur Freyr, was extremely knowledgeable and truly loves what he does. We learned so much, saw an amazing light show, and got so many amazing photos. Don’t let the late night time scare you off - definitely worth it! (also, we were served delicious hot chocolate that was homemade by our guide - a bonus!)

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for the kind words. I really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience :-D It was a real pleasure taking you out. Nights like that are exactly why I love doing these tours. When the sky cooperates and the lights put on a show, it never gets old. I’m also glad you enjoyed the hot chocolate. It’s a small tradition on our tours but it makes those cold Icelandic nights a lot nicer. Thank you again for joining me and for the recommendation. I’m very happy to hear the experience was memorable for you!

    Once in a Lifetime Experience

Prostur was amazing at finding the Northern Lights! This was our second trip to Iceland and third attempt to see the Northern Lights. The day looked gloomy and we thought the tour would be cancelled again. The tour company usually makes the go no go decision by 6:30pm, but they asked if we would be willing to wait a little bit longer so we agreed to wait until 8pm. At 7:45 pm we got a message that they would pick us up at 9:30pm and thought they might be able to find some lights. Might was an understatement! We were barely an hour away from the hotel when prostur pulled over and declared he found something. Prostur is a meteriologist and very knowledgeable about the stars and how the northern lights form. The night sky was full of stars and beautiful northern lights, every time we turned around looking at the sky all that we could say was Wow. He told us that only 20% of the tours had our experience. We were very grateful and in awe of the beauty. It was cold and windy but his hot chocolate and donut were a perfect snack to warm us up. We really had two terrific experiences, seeing amazing Northern Lights and getting an education about the start and the movement of the solar system to create the Lights. Great guide and a great tour

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for the lovely review! We’re really happy you agreed to wait a little longer. That clear window turned into a fantastic night. Thrilled that you enjoyed the stars, the Northern Lights, and of course the hot chocolate. We’re grateful you chose Happyworld and glad your third attempt finally paid off! Hope we'll see you guys again :-D

    Great evening

Sven was a wonderful guide. Great sense of humor and also explained the science behind the Northern Lights visual display. Best of all, he found a place where we could see the Northern Lights. Thanks, Sven

Response from the operator: Thank you for your lovely review! We’re so glad to hear Svein humor, knowledge, and determination helped make your Northern Lights experience a memorable one. We’ll be sure to share your kind words with him.

The private super jeep tour was well worth our time and our guide was great!

Prostur was a great guide. He was on time. He communicated well. He explained what he was doing and why. He worked hard to get us to a place where we might see the lights as it was a very cloudy and fast moving cloud evening. He had stories to tell. He pulled out a telescope to view the starts while we waited. Overall a great experience. He also offered to help us with advice if we wanted to try ourselves another night. When he has an opening on another bus tour he offered for us to take that space but we already had other plans for that day. What a super great guide.

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your experience! We’re delighted to hear that Þröstur made the night special with his guiding, stories, and stargazing, even with the challenging clouds. We’ll be sure to pass along your kind words to him! He’ll be thrilled to know he made such a positive impression.

Northern Lights Private Super Jeep Tour with Photos: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Reykjavik.

How much does Northern Lights Private Super Jeep Tour with Photos cost?

    +

Prices start at $2200 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Reykjavik usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Northern Lights Private Super Jeep Tour with Photos take?

    +

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Reykjavik is not rushed.

Is Northern Lights Private Super Jeep Tour with Photos worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 60 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 39 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Reykjavik, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Northern Lights Private Super Jeep Tour with Photos?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Northern Lights Private Super Jeep Tour with Photos suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Northern Lights Private Super Jeep Tour with Photos?

    +

Around 14 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Reykjavik can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Reykjavik and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Northern Lights Private Super Jeep Tour with Photos start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Reykjavik within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Reykjavik?

    +

On Outty we rank every Reykjavik experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Reykjavik Food Walk - Local Foodie Adventure in Iceland, Small-Group Golden Circle, Blue Lagoon with Ticket & Kerid Crater, Reykjavík Small group Walking Tour - by CityWalk. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Reykjavik?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Reykjavik?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
