About this experience
Welcome, Greenlander welcomes you on the most adventurous Northern Lights chase in the Northern Norway. You will be guided by a pro photographer (see proof from our Instagram or Facebook page,) who will safely take you around the perimeter on a 4x4 modified Mercedes Benz minivan. The tour consists central pickup, warm meal, hot drinks, tripods, thermal suit, boots, campfire(if conditions allow,) Aurora portraits and so much more. Greenlander has a reputation of not giving up and therefore having one of the highest success rates in the business, around 95%-98% chance of catching the elusive Northern Lights. Please consider, the weather can be harsh and sometimes we have to chase for hours, before we can even see first stars. This tour might not suit for elder, obese and unfit participants, as sometimes we hike in a snow and our minivan is rather compact compared to bigger buses used by bigger companies. Magical Family Memories
We had the best time on this trip. It was very cloudy to the East, West, North, and South the night we went and Arbo did an amazing job finding a spot for us to see the northern lights for a bit. While Mother Nature didn't work in our favor that night, we had the best time seeing what we could and enjoying the company we were in. Arbo was the perfect tour guide. He was knowledgeable, very friendly, but also knew the right moments to enjoy the quiet so we could take in the experience. We laughed around the campfire and he was such a gracious host. He also educated us with tips and tricks to seeing the northern lights. That allowed us to see them better on our own the next night when we weren't on the tour. I wished we had been on the tour the next night to get the pictures he took too. His photography is spectacular!

Witnessing the magic of the Northern Lights
What a night to remember! After six days of touring Norway without a single glimpse of the Northern Lights, we were starting to lose hope—but then we met Markus. He was such a wonderful and proactive guide; he actually reached out early to see if we could move our 7 p.m. start time up to 6 p.m. because he had a lead on the lights. We happily swapped our dinner plans for the adventure, and it was the best decision we made! Markus drove us through a snowstorm all the way to Finland, and just as we arrived, the snow vanished and the sky opened up. It felt like the lights were waiting just for us! The display was spectacular and stunning. Markus used his expert knowledge to find a secluded spot far away from the crowds, giving us a perfectly dark, clear sky to witness the magic. We captured some great shots ourselves, and Markus was kind enough to share his professional photos with us, too. We couldn't have asked for a better experience or a more fantastic guide!

Northern Lights April 3 2026
Markus is an excellent guide. Not only does he go above and beyond to find the best skies for the Northern Lights, but his genuine passion for his work truly shines through during the tour. The conditions weren’t looking great last night, but he drove almost all the way to Finland until he found a spot where he told us it would be worth waiting. Just five minutes later, the lights appeared and we had a breathtaking show. Thank you, Markus! Florencia & Julian

Northern Lights Amazement
Markus was our guide, photographer and driver besides being a very nice person! Our group had a wonderful time on our drive from Tromso, Norway to Iittosuvanto, Finland to find clear skies where we could see the spectacular Aurora Borealis display. It did not disappoint and we were completely satisfied with the experience and Markus' ability to find the perfect spot to view this amazing phenomenon.

Northern Lights Adventure with Greenlander, 8 people max: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Tromso.
How much does Northern Lights Adventure with Greenlander, 8 people max cost?
+
Prices start at $2870 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Tromso usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Northern Lights Adventure with Greenlander, 8 people max take?
+
Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Tromso is not rushed.
Is Northern Lights Adventure with Greenlander, 8 people max worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 83 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 1,511 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Tromso, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Northern Lights Adventure with Greenlander, 8 people max?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is Northern Lights Adventure with Greenlander, 8 people max suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 5. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 6-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Northern Lights Adventure with Greenlander, 8 people max?
+
Around 529 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Tromso can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Tromso and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Northern Lights Adventure with Greenlander, 8 people max start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Tromso within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Tromso?
+
On Outty we rank every Tromso experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Northern Lights Minibus Chase from Tromsø with Chasing Lights, Northern Lights Big Bus Chase with Chasing Lights, Tromsø Northern Lights Chase We Go Where The Lights Appear. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Tromso?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Tromso?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
