Nile Cruise Laughs Sunsets and Donkey Story

We have been on many trips but this Nile cruise from Aswan to Luxor was special because of the little moments. One evening we docked near a small village and the call to prayer echoed across the water while we ate dinner on the deck. The next morning we visited a spice shop in Edfu and the owner let us smell everything. Admission fee for the cruise included all transport and most meals but we paid for drinks separately. Length of visit overall was 5 days and we wished it was longer. The atmosphere was laid back and welcoming like being with family. Crowd size on the ship was small only 35 people so we made friends quickly. The staff were mostly local Nubians who sang songs while cleaning the rooms. Our guide Omar was with us every day and he never got tired of our questions. Best for friends who want to laugh and learn together. A story that made us all cry laughing was when my friend tried to say thank you in Arabic and accidentally said a word that meant donkey. Omar laughed so hard he had to sit down. Then he taught us the right way and now we text each other shukran all the time. The ship had a small jacuzzi that we used after long days of walking. I will book with Egypt tours gateway again next year.

How many days do you need in Aswan?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
