Scary snake but fun

This was a really cool experience. Abel was our tour guide and he was so good with the kids. We ended up finding the most poisonous snake in the America’s and Abel instilled confidence and calm so that everyone could still have an experience while being safe. The worst part of our experience was getting to the place…Google Maps took us to the wrong spot. However the tour people at the first place were super helpful and the tour organizers were then able to communicate with us and even made sure we were able to get our full experience even though we got to the site approximately 20 minutes late. We were so lucky to see the things we did and even got to see a juvenile sloth at the end.

Many sloths were seen

Agustin was an excellent guide. Very knowledgeable and great at finding sloths, frogs, birds , and lizards. We had a great time.

Okay

Transportation to and from our hotel went smoothly, and the two guides were very nice. Overall, however, we had expected much more; in the two hours we saw a few frogs and spiders, but nothing else. It rained heavily, so you should wear rainproof clothing—sturdy footwear is especially important, as it was very slippery at times. The guide was in a big hurry, so be prepared for that. I wouldn’t recommend the tour for older people or families with children. Overall, the value for money wasn’t right for us, unfortunately.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your review. As you mentioned, wheater sometimes affect the experience, this is a rainforest and is part of our day by day. We are really sorry that the tour was not as you expected, so please get in contact with our Customer Service Department via WhatsApp at +506 8794-7251

Elias has a genuine...

Elias has a genuine interest in the ecosystem of Costa Rica and it comes through as he guided us. He shared his knowledge of both plants and animals of the area, along with their history. Even though the rain may have made it more difficult, we were still able to see some amphibians and insects and learn a bit about them, and their role in the ecosystem. Most importantly, he kept us safe from any potential jaguar. Compared to a hike during the daytime, a night hike makes you more aware of the sounds and certain animals are nocturnal. Definitely worth consideration if it sounds interesting to you.

Easy to find and an easy leisurely walk. Saw many many red eyed frogs, the translucent frog, red poison dart frog, a couple sloths, snake, and many insects. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. Would recommend!

Night tour La Fortuna: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for La Fortuna.

How much does Night tour La Fortuna cost?

+

Prices start at $36 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in La Fortuna usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Night tour La Fortuna take?

+

Plan for about 1.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in La Fortuna is not rushed.

Is Night tour La Fortuna worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 66 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 100 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in La Fortuna, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Night tour La Fortuna?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Night tour La Fortuna suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 1. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 1.5-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Night tour La Fortuna?

+

Around 35 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in La Fortuna can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in La Fortuna and add a light layer if any part of the 1.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Night tour La Fortuna start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central La Fortuna within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in La Fortuna?

+

On Outty we rank every La Fortuna experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Upper Balsa River White Water Rafting Class 3/4 in Costa Rica, North Fields Cafe: Craft Specialty Coffee and Chocolate Tour, Canyoning Adventure Rappelling Waterfalls in Arenal Volcano. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit La Fortuna?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in La Fortuna?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
