No thanks.
I would not take this tour. I think talking about politics right out the gate is tacky and not the place for a tour. Waste of $386

Exceptional tour!
Fantastic experience! Meeting at John's restaurant was perfect! Literally the scene of a crime. Great food and great company! Our guide Frank V was sensational! Retired NYPD who really provided historical perspective at every stop. He made us want to do further research after. That to us is the ultimate compliment to any tour guide! Well worth the money!!!

Don't hesitate to book this tour!!!
If you’re thinking about taking this mafia tour, do it! It’s an absolute must-do. We started the tour at John’s with an amazing dinner of spaghetti and meatballs. It was the perfect way to kick off the evening. Lou was hands down the best tour guide we have ever had. He was funny, fun, energetic, and incredibly knowledgeable. He brought New York’s mafia history to life with fascinating stories and just the right amount of humor, making the entire experience entertaining and interesting from start to finish. We wrapped up the tour in Little Italy, enjoying amazing, fresh cannolis that were the perfect ending to an unforgettable evening. If you’re hesitating, don’t. Lou genuinely loves what he does, and it shows. We had an absolute blast. This was one of the highlights of our trip, and if we ever visit New York again, we would absolutely book this tour again. We highly recommend it. If you get Lou as your guide, you’re in for a fantastic experience!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for this incredible review and for highlighting such a fantastic evening! Starting off with that amazing spaghetti and meatballs dinner at John’s and wrapping up with fresh cannolis in Little Italy is exactly how we love to showcase the absolute best flavors of the neighborhood. Our retired NYPD detectives take immense pride in being lifelong New York City locals who genuinely love what they do, bringing an unmatched energy, humor, and passion to every single step of the walk. When you spend an evening with us, you are stepping onto a seamless historical timeline. We guide you chronologically from the East Village down into Little Italy, starting all the way back with the early formation of the Mafia in the 1900s and bringing the story straight through to present-day New York City. Hearing those detailed accounts mixed with real-life, firsthand police war stories from the law enforcement veterans who actually worked these historic cases gives you an insider depth you simply cannot replicate. Our expert team has been featured in major documentaries like Get Gotti, Fear City, and As Far Back As I Can Remember because they truly lived this history. It is an unforgettable experience that bridges the gap between legendary history and authentic street credibility, and we would absolutely love to welcome you back the next time you visit the city!

Too little food for the walking.
Frank was outstanding and really knew his stuff. My main issue is that it is a long walk from John's of 12th to Little Italy. Another food stop or two along the way would break up the tour a bit.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for taking the time to share your review! We are absolutely thrilled to hear that you found the tour outstanding and that our guide’s deep knowledge of the city's true crime history really stood out to you. As a team of retired NYPD Detectives and police officers, we pride ourselves on delivering an authentic, deep-dive historical experience. We love using our real-world background to bring the streets, the stories, and the fascinating history of the neighborhood to life for our guests. We truly appreciate your feedback regarding the 1,2 mi route from John's of 12th into Little Italy. We design our walks to cover as much rich, historical ground as possible, and we are so glad you got to experience the full journey with us. Thank you for joining us on the streets of New York City, and we hope to welcome you back for another unforgettable look into the city's past!

Why this scores 68
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
New York City: Mafia History in Little Italy Walking Tour w/NYPD: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for New York.
How much does New York City: Mafia History in Little Italy Walking Tour w/NYPD cost?
+
Prices start at $129 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in New York usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does New York City: Mafia History in Little Italy Walking Tour w/NYPD take?
+
Plan for about 3.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in New York is not rushed.
Is New York City: Mafia History in Little Italy Walking Tour w/NYPD worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 68 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 67 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in New York, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule New York City: Mafia History in Little Italy Walking Tour w/NYPD?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is New York City: Mafia History in Little Italy Walking Tour w/NYPD suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book New York City: Mafia History in Little Italy Walking Tour w/NYPD?
+
Around 23 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in New York can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in New York and add a light layer if any part of the 3.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does New York City: Mafia History in Little Italy Walking Tour w/NYPD start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central New York within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in New York?
+
New York has more bookable experiences than any other city on Outty, and the quality spread is brutal. Observation decks are commoditised, so we score them on timed-entry reliability and sunset slots. Food tours and borough walks are where the ranking really separates operators, and the top scores in the city all come from small-group guides. On Outty we rank every New York experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Grand Canyon VIP Helicopter Tour, Half-Day Bus Tour of NYC Top Highlights, NYC Bus Tour of Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens: Art, Food & Sports. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit New York?
+
September to early November, and late April through June. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in New York?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
