    Be prepared to queue

The queue to enter the Museum/Square space was 2 hours and 20 mins long. By the time I entered, the Museum had closed to new entrants. Suggest booking morning slots for everything in China.

Response from the operator: Dear Sarah_R, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, and we sincerely apologize for the disappointment you experienced during your visit to the National Museum of China. As a gesture of goodwill, we’ve already processed a full refund for your ticket, and we hope this helps ease the frustration caused by the long wait and missed entry. We completely understand how disheartening it must have been to queue for over two hours only to find the museum closed to new visitors. While entry reservations are within our control, unfortunately, on-site wait times—especially at major attractions during peak periods—are managed by the venue and can be affected by security checks, crowd levels, and daily capacity limits, all of which are beyond our influence. That said, your advice about booking morning slots is excellent, and we truly appreciate you sharing this insight—it will undoubtedly help other travelers plan better. We’d be honored to assist you again on your next trip to Beijing and help ensure a much smoother experience. Warm regards,

    via Viator

A beautiful approach to Chinese culture

Beautiful museum with many collections. It is necessary to take the time to read the explanations in order to properly immerse yourself in the history. You have to count the day to visit it.

Response from the operator: Dear Didier D, Thank you so much for sharing your experience visiting the National Museum of China — and for your kind feedback along the way! We’re delighted to hear that you found the museum impressive and its collections so rich. You’re absolutely right: taking time to read the descriptions really helps immerse yourself in the depth of history there, and it’s wonderful that you were able to dedicate a full day to explore it thoroughly. It was our pleasure to assist you with your ticket booking, and we’re glad we could help make your visit possible. If your future travels include other museums, shows, or train ticket or guided tours in China, we’d be happy to assist again. Warm regards,

Is National Museum of China + Tiananmen Square Entry Ticket worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 60 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3/5 across 2 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Beijing, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule National Museum of China + Tiananmen Square Entry Ticket?

How far in advance should I book National Museum of China + Tiananmen Square Entry Ticket?

    +

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Beijing can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Beijing and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

    +

What are the best things to do in Beijing?

    +

On Outty we rank every Beijing experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Mubus: Mutianyu Great Wall Bus Tour with Summer Palace Options, Beijing: Top 6 Highlights All Inclusive 2-Day Private Tour, Private Mutianyu Great Wall Trip With English-Speaking Driver. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Beijing?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Beijing?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
