About this experience
During the course of my forty-two year Bay Area odyssey, I’ve spent twenty two years living in San Francisco and the remaining 19 years in the Napa Valley. I've found myself as the owner of a bar, followed by a small nightclub, a volunteer at Burning Man, an office manager for a recreational dude ranch, a volunteer and member of the Board of Trustees for the Napa Valley Museum, a temp bookkeeper for a winery, a Cub Scout Day Camp Director, a crush worker for Mahoney Vineyards and lastly, for the last ten years, a wine tour driver. All of these experiences have aggregated to making me a uniquely qualified host to show and share my beloved Napa Valley. I'm celebrating ten years in of driving in the Napa Valley offering airport transportation and wine tours. I have excellent reviews on TripAdvisor and was named "Best Transportation" for 2023 in the Bohemian's annual "Best of the North Bay" edition.

Great Experience
We had Gary as our driver for two days while we were in Napa. Prior to arriving, Gary worked with me on wineries to visit (suggesting some, providing resources) and then booked those wineries and created a schedule for us to follow - including stops for food. He made it so that we did not have to worry about how much time we needed in between spots or scheduling/making any reservations. Gary was extremely helpful, open to communicating prior/during our time with him, and made sure that we knew how much time we could spend in one place. He also drove us through some scenic areas on our way to/from different vineyards and suggested places to dine or visit on the day we were not with him. I'd be happy to book Gary again and would recommend him to anyone visiting the area.

Selecting the right transport option enhances the winery tour experience
Gary provided an excellent Sonoma experience for 3 days. He was always punctual, arriving early for our pickups, drove us to 3 wineries a day and included time for some unique lunch experiences and very scenic routes each day. Gary is a pleasure to travel with, a very safe and careful driver, and is very knowledgeable about the winery industry and the options available at each winery for tastings. We will pick Gary again for our next visit and he is highly recommended

10/10 recommend
Gary was awesome. On time, great recommendations when we had time to kill, & added bonus for willingness to take photos

Amazing Day in Napa
Gary was prompt and very kind. Knowledgable with history around Sonoma and Napa. We had a break between our winery tours, and Gary had recommended a place for lunch and it was great! Would definitely recommend Gary and will be reserving him next time we’re in town.

Highly Recommend!
Highly recommend if wine tasting in Napa and/or Sonoma. We did three tastings in a day (two in Napa and one in Sonoma) and we were so happy to have Gary drive us for the day. It was a seamless process, he recommended a place for sandwiches in between tastings, even offered to grab them for us if needed. He was professional, pleasant, and our family would definitely use him again

Why this scores 62
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Napa and Sonoma Private Transportation: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Napa & Sonoma.
How much does Napa and Sonoma Private Transportation cost?
+
Prices start at $500 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Napa & Sonoma usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Napa and Sonoma Private Transportation take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Napa & Sonoma is not rushed.
Is Napa and Sonoma Private Transportation worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 62 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Napa & Sonoma, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Napa and Sonoma Private Transportation?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Napa and Sonoma Private Transportation suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Napa and Sonoma Private Transportation?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Napa & Sonoma can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Napa & Sonoma and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Napa and Sonoma Private Transportation start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Napa & Sonoma within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Napa & Sonoma?
+
Napa and Sonoma are all about how a tour is put together: which wineries it can actually book, how many stops, whether lunch and tasting fees are included, and whether it lifts off in a balloon at sunrise. We weight inclusions and transparency heavily in the ranking here. On Outty we rank every Napa & Sonoma experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Napa Valley Small Group Winery Tour, #1 Sonoma Walking Food, Wine Tasting & History Tour (Public Tour), Sonoma Valley Pedal Assist Bike Tour with Lunch. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Napa & Sonoma?
+
March to May and September to November, with harvest crush in September. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Napa & Sonoma?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
