A perfectly organised day trip to Nanjing
Visiting Nanjing on a day trip from Shanghai with Sunny Tours was one of the highlights of our trip to China. We were picked up from our hotel in Shanghai, taken to the station, and helped onto the train by our driver, Charlie. At the other end we were met by our guide, Eleven. We were very glad of this assistance as the station was extremely busy, especially early in the morning. In Nanjing we visited the Nanjing City Walls, Zhongshan Mountain National Park, and the Nanjing Massacre Memorial Hall. We also stopped for lunch at a beautiful local restaurant and enjoyed some excellent food. Eleven was incredibly knowledgeable and brought each place to life with detailed explanations and historical context that we wouldn’t have fully understood on our own. What made the experience even better was Eleven’s friendly and engaging style. We were able to ask lots of questions and the tour never felt rushed. It truly felt like exploring the history of Nanjing with a passionate local expert. I would highly recommend Sunny Tours to anyone wanting to visit Nanjing and gain a deeper understanding of the city’s history and culture. During our stay in China we completed three different tours from Shanghai with Sunny Tours, and all were consistently excellent — great communication after booking, quality vehicles and knowledgeable, engaging guides.

Good professional service team but for the solo traveler price, not good value for money
Thanks. In terms of planning this tour for the future - Think about this way. I paid 475 US dollars. Entrance Tickets for sites were not included, lunch was not included - So for only getting a tour guide and transport to and from Nanjing this became a rather expensive “guided transportation service”. Everyone was professional and efficient- I give them that. The tour guide Betty ( Pei ) was very knowledgeable and pleasant and I rate her very highly. From a value for money perspective though when compared to other tours where I paid about the same rate e.g to Zhangjiajie, this is not good value for money.
Response from the operator: Dear Guests, We appreciate you sharing your perspective, and I’m happy to clarify the situation. First, we are glad to hear that you were satisfied with your guide and overall experience with our team. Regarding the lunch, it’s important to note that you selected the tour option that did not include lunch. Despite this, as a gesture of goodwill, we instructed the guide to provide lunch for you during the tour, even though it was not part of your booked package. Concerning the pricing, we'd like to clarify that the amount you paid for one person was USD 460.00, not USD 475.00 as mentioned. All tour details, including what is and isn’t included, are clearly outlined in the tour description on Viator to ensure transparency prior to booking. Additionally, tour pricing varies significantly based on location, operational costs, and regional living expenses. Tours in Zhangjiajie, for example, are structured differently from those in cities like Shanghai or Nanjing, due to differences in logistics, local costs, and service conditions. We strive to offer competitive pricing based on the region and the quality of service provided. If you have any further questions or need additional clarification, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here to help and want to ensure you have all the information you need. Best regards, Lily

+
On Outty we rank every Shanghai experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Private Shanghai Full Day City Tour with Old and New Highlights, Suzhou Private Day Trip from Shanghai with Bullet Train Option, 4-Hour Flexible Private Shanghai City Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Shanghai?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Shanghai?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
