We learned a lot about truffles, the region and Chef Luigi's accomplishments. A super excursion, well worth it.
Amazing to harvest truffles and mushrooms on the property of the restaurant. Golden retrievers to sniff out the location of truffles, then Roberto (chef Luigi did not join us in person) dug the truffle up. The dogs found several; enough for our cooking class. Steep walk on slippery leaves, not for the faint at heart but totally worth it. We were in a group of 8 although we expected to be just the two of us, as the tour was labeled private. Departure point NOT at the car ferry as mentioned on website, but from the next ferry over on the square. The cooking class was a lot of fun and the 4 course luncheon was great, with ample red wine. Chef Luigi is very talented and was making jokes while explaining what we had to do in his kitchen. The servers were well trained and very polite. Totally worth it; my comments are just to help you set expectations.

AMAZING experience!
Luigi and his family were beyond kind and this was an authentic and unforgettable activity. I would suggest this to anyone and it is well worth the price.

A Fun, Unique Bellagio Experience
What a fun and unique experience! There was a little confusion at pick-up, so it’s worth calling to confirm your reservation and pick up time/place. We were then driven to a private home up on the hill above Bellagio and went for a walk with truffle hunting dogs Sherlock and Charlotte. After filling our basket with truffles, we were brought to Salice Blu and were treated to a delicious and fun lunch, highlighting the truffles we had picked. One of our favorite days from our two week trip to Italy!

Dogs, truffles, and a beautiful meal. What else do you need!
This experience was seriously fun. Luigi cooked us an incredible lunch and then we went wandering through the woods in search of truffles. AND THEY WERE EVERYWHERE! The truffle dog we went hunting with was so adorable and my partner and I had such a good time looking for truffles and chatting with Luigi and his family. We saw beautiful views from the forest while hunting and overall just had a blast. Prepare to be a bit flexible on timing based on weather, so don't book anything else the day of your truffle hunting because you may end up over scheduled. This activity is well worth having a full day free to partake in. We definitely recommend it to all.
Response from the operator: So great ! I can’t wait

Why this scores 54
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Mushroom or Truffle Hunting: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Lake Como.
How much does Mushroom or Truffle Hunting cost?
+
Prices start at $159 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Lake Como usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Mushroom or Truffle Hunting take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Lake Como is not rushed.
Is Mushroom or Truffle Hunting worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 54 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable family friendly in Lake Como, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Mushroom or Truffle Hunting?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is Mushroom or Truffle Hunting suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Mushroom or Truffle Hunting?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Lake Como can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Lake Como and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Mushroom or Truffle Hunting start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Lake Como within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Lake Como?
+
On Outty we rank every Lake Como experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Small-Group Lake Como & Lugano: 2 Countries in 1 Day, Boat Cruise, Como, Bellagio & Varenna: Small Group from Milan with Boat Cruise, Small-Group Lake Como: Bellagio, Varenna, Hidden Gorge & Boat. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Lake Como?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Lake Como?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
