Nice places, terrible experience.
This is by far the worst trip with Viator I have ever been on. It is not to do with what we saw, but the organisation and treatment we received. We arrived at our pick up point well on time, checked in and were told to wait. When our van hadn’t arrived 15 minutes after its expected time I was dismissively told it was actually a later time. It finally arrived 30 mins late. We took the last two seats so now there was no seat for the guide who had to stand and kept pushing into the seat my friend was sitting in, making her extremely uncomfortable. When she complained he essentially said if she didn’t like it she could get off the bus. He then ignored us totally for the rest of the day. He treated the group like babies dictating rules. Not, ‘please make sure you are back at the van on time’, but, ‘be there or we leave without you.’Fair enough but I t was the way it was said. Another time he said, meet HERE not THERE, pointing to a spot a few yards away or THERE pointing to another place a few yards away, and then waited for us somewhere else. Of course we could find him easily it was just arrogant behaviour. The trip description needs to say that the climb at the caves is long and steep. While doable for most people, older people with bad backs or knees may definitely find it hard. Proper footwear is essential. It was supposed to be an 8 hour trip. It was more than 10. Not traffic related. The final straw was when we returned to Tbilisi and we were told we would not be dropped off where we got on. We yelled, and in the end he reluctantly took us back to our original meeting point. Viator needs to make sure there are sufficient seats for everyone including the guide. If they are late people should be informed, not dismissed and lied to. Guides should be well trained in politeness to their group. And obviously every person should be dropped off at the same place they started the trip.

Beautiful scenery,...
Beautiful scenery, overall good experience as the monasteries were breathtaking and the cave city is something definitely worth seeing in the trip. Overall the trip was very good - just one small complaint. The guide, while kind and enthusiastic, his English was a bit challenging to understand for a non-native speaker. He spoke quickly and with a relatively heavy accent, making it tough for us to follow the stories.

Fantastic Cultural Trip to Old Capital
Took this tour to Mtskheta, Gori, and Uplistsikhe with Tranquil Holidays, and it was fantastic! Our guide, Anni, was exceptional—her passion for the history and culture of these places made the experience even more enriching. The itinerary was well-organized, giving us plenty of time to explore each location. Tranquil Holidays did an excellent job in ensuring a smooth and enjoyable trip. I highly recommend this tour and give it a well-deserved 5-star rating!"

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Tbilisi.
How much does Mtskheta, Gori and Uplistsikhe Day Tour from Tbilisi cost?

+

How far in advance should I book Mtskheta, Gori and Uplistsikhe Day Tour from Tbilisi?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Tbilisi can sell out a month out. +
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Tbilisi and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

+

The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Tbilisi?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Tbilisi?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
