One of a kind experience!
We were really satisfied with our whole trip, it was well organized and everything was taken care of, after landing we got immediately picked up by our driver, Seti, who was extremely funny to ride with. We headed to Kilimanjaro foothills where we were given a choice what we'd like to do first - hike, have lunch or coffee tour. We first decided to hike to the waterfall, it's about 40 minutes hike, bit slippery when it's after rain, the guide who takes you there is more then happy to take picture of you when desired. After hiking back ul the hill visited a local Materuni community running a place that makes coffee, they show you how coffee is made from scratch, explain everything in stepss and actually do it at the same time while singing and dancing, in the end you get to taste the freshest, greatest coffee you ever had, and normally I don'teven drink coffee, it's really amazing. You can buy their coffee too, to support the comunity as there's not many companies doing tours there. There's about 7 families and eavh packs their coffee in different colorful fabric, great souvenir to take home! Then comes the lunch in local settlement, all is grown in the area and tastes wonderful, they also offer drinks for pretty low price if you'd like. On the way back Seti even slowed down or stopped when we wanted to take pictures of Kilimanjaro after it came out of clouds! Overall this whole experience outgrew our expectations in the best way possible, as there's not so many people, it really does feel very authentic. Thank you for making our trip unforgetable!
Response from the operator: We are absolutely thrilled to receive your fantastic review of your recent trip with us! It warms our hearts to know that your journey was not only satisfying but also exceeded your expectations. It's wonderful to hear that everything was well organized, and our driver, Seti, provided you with an enjoyable and humorous ride. Seti is indeed a valuable member of our team, and we're delighted to know that his presence added to your experience. Our commitment to offering flexibility in activities is aimed at ensuring that our guests have a personalized and memorable experience. Your decision to start with the hike to the waterfall, despite the slippery conditions, is commendable. The guide's willingness to capture your moments on camera is a thoughtful touch that adds to the overall experience. Visiting the local Materuni community and witnessing the coffee-making process is a unique and authentic encounter, and we're thrilled that you found it amazing. The combination of explaining the process, singing, dancing, and tasting the freshest coffee is an unforgettable experience, even for non-coffee drinkers. Your support for the local community by purchasing their coffee is deeply appreciated. The colorful fabric packaging truly makes it a special souvenir to cherish. The locally sourced lunch sounds like a culinary delight, and we're glad you enjoyed the flavors. The affordability of drinks is an added bonus, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the local culture. Seti's attentiveness to your desires for capturing the majestic Kilimanjaro is a testament to his dedication to providing a memorable journey. Your words about the authenticity of the experience mean a lot to us. We take pride in providing unique and genuine encounters for our guests. Once again, thank you for choosing us for your trip, and for sharing your unforgettable experience with us. We can't wait to welcome you back for more authentic adventures in the future.

Mt. Kilimanjaro Day hike Materuni waterfall: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Moshi.
How much does Mt. Kilimanjaro Day hike Materuni waterfall cost?
+
Prices start at $180 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Moshi usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Mt. Kilimanjaro Day hike Materuni waterfall take?
+
Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Moshi is not rushed.
Is Mt. Kilimanjaro Day hike Materuni waterfall worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Moshi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Mt. Kilimanjaro Day hike Materuni waterfall?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Mt. Kilimanjaro Day hike Materuni waterfall suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Mt. Kilimanjaro Day hike Materuni waterfall?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Moshi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Moshi and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Mt. Kilimanjaro Day hike Materuni waterfall start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Moshi within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Moshi?
+
On Outty we rank every Moshi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Materuni Waterfall, Coffee Tour and Picnic Hot Lunch, Materuni Waterfall and Coffee Plantation Half Day Tour, Kilimanjaro climb, Machame Route (7-day). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Moshi?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Moshi?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
