Great views
This tour has many choices but large distances. You can realistically only do Hakone or Fuji area. Or about 6 to 7 quick stops of both.
Response from the operator: Thank you for your observation. At Ikisaki Tours and Travels, we carefully design our itineraries to offer flexibility while ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable experience. Given the distances involved, we agree that focusing on either the Hakone area or the Fuji region allows for a more relaxed and immersive tour. For guests who prefer a broader overview, we can also arrange a customized plan that includes approximately 6 to 7 brief stops across both areas. However, this option is best suited for those comfortable with a faster-paced schedule. We would be happy to tailor the itinerary based on your preferences, travel pace, and interests to ensure the best possible experience.

Disappointed
Our driver picked us up at our Fuji area hotel at 10:00 am with a drop off time of 3:00 pm. We agreed to the following itinerary. Suggested Itinerary (A) 10AM Pick up from Fuji area Hakone Ropeway Owakudani valley Lake Ashi + Cruise Hakone Shrine 15:00 drop off is in Fuji area It took about two hours to drive to the Ropeway with a quick stop for gas along the way. I expect drivers to be better prepared! This only gave us about 1 hour 20 minutes to buy tickets and experience the Ropeway. There was not enough time for the Lake Ashi and Cruise. We had to insist on seeing Hakone Shrine as Sam was adamant that it would take too long and we should just take a walk by the lake for 20 minutes instead. While Sam was a good driver, he is not a tour guide and only offered information if we had a question. When I asked if he usually worked alone or with a guide, he said that we would have had to request a guide ahead of time. The tour information states that pick up in Fuji area is between 9:30 and 10:00 and drop off is between 3:00 and 4:00. If the tour begins at the latest time, one should not expect it to end at the earliest time. We also questioned why the toll roads weren’t taken. Google Maps said that it would have saved up to 20 minutes each way. This tour over promised what was possible in the amount of time available.
Response from the operator: Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback about your tour. We truly appreciate your comments, as they help us improve the experience we provide to our guests. We are very sorry to hear that the timing of your itinerary did not allow you to fully enjoy all the planned stops. While travel times in the Fuji–Hakone area can vary significantly depending on traffic and weather conditions, we understand your disappointment that the schedule felt rushed but the driver were able to take to the route to hakone shrine so that you can enjoy the lake view from the car and we are sorry not to have experience the Lake Ashi cruise as originally expected. Regarding the fuel stop and route choice, we apologize for any inconvenience. Our drivers are instructed to prepare vehicles before guest pick-up, and we will reinforce this standard with our team. In some cases, toll roads are avoided when traffic conditions or cost constraints do not significantly affect travel time, but we understand that in this instance, taking the toll route might have been preferable. We’ll ensure our drivers better communicate these decisions to guests in the future. We also note your comments about the guiding aspect. You are correct that your booking standard does not include guided tour, though one can be arranged in advance upon request. We’ll make sure this distinction is more clearly explained during the booking process. Once again, we sincerely apologize that the experience did not meet your expectations. We appreciate your valuable feedback and will use it to improve communication, scheduling, and service preparation going forward. Thank you for choosing us for your Fuji–Hakone trip, and we hope to have the opportunity to serve you again under better circumstances.

It’s great to know that his friendliness, flexibility, and sense of humor helped make your trip both enjoyable and memorable. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you again on another adventure soon!

Why this scores 75
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Mt Fuji & Hakone Customizable Private Tour with English Driver: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Tokyo.
How much does Mt Fuji & Hakone Customizable Private Tour with English Driver cost?
+
Prices start at $150 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Tokyo usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Mt Fuji & Hakone Customizable Private Tour with English Driver take?
+
Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Tokyo is not rushed.
Is Mt Fuji & Hakone Customizable Private Tour with English Driver worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 75 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 33 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Tokyo, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Mt Fuji & Hakone Customizable Private Tour with English Driver?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Mt Fuji & Hakone Customizable Private Tour with English Driver suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Mt Fuji & Hakone Customizable Private Tour with English Driver?
+
Around 12 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Tokyo can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Tokyo and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Mt Fuji & Hakone Customizable Private Tour with English Driver start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Tokyo within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Tokyo?
+
Tokyo is less a city than a stack of neighborhoods with completely different opening hours. A guided food crawl through Shinjuku's Omoide Yokocho gets you past the no-tourist curtains, while the day trips west to Hakone and Fuji need an early start to be worth the fare. Our ranking weighs guide quality heavily here, because in Tokyo the guide is the product. On Outty we rank every Tokyo experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Tokyo Shinjuku Chopsticks Making Class, Tokyo : Asakusa Chopsticks Making Class, Shinjuku Night Food and Bar Crawl. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Tokyo?
+
Late March to May for blossom, October to November for clear Fuji views. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Tokyo?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
