Brilliant 2day hike and experience

Me and 4 friends had a fantastic experience doing 2 day , 1 night Mt Toubkal summit. We are all in our 30s and relatively fit and so our guide Mustafa was happy to go at a pace that suited us for the walking - the food was surprisingly wholesome and nourishing at each stop , plenty of opportunity to buy water and supplies and the whole experience was brilliant value for money 🙏 we were picked up and dropped off at accommodation in marakesh all included. The July heat was challenging for some of the walking but the bonus was that it meant the summit was not too technical with no snow / ice which suited us. A memorable trip getting to the summit first before sunrise and watching the sun come up . Thank you Omar Adventures and Mustafa for a fabulous experience Niall and co.

Take everything to refuge

The trip was great, and we had a very good time on our hike to Toubkal. Our guides were very nice, helpful and friendly. Unfortunately, there was a misunderstanding regarding the luggage. The ticket I purchased stated that a mule would carry our luggage, so I left my warm clothes and toiletries in a separate bag. However, this bag was never delivered to the refuge, which meant I didn’t have any warm clothes for the hike to Toubkal. Luckily, our guides let me borrow some clothes, so I was still able to complete the hike and enjoy the experience. I would also recommend bringing some extra snacks and food with you, as the meals provided were not quite enough to maintain your energy for this type of hike.

3 day tour Toubkal

To get proper acclimatisation (I usually live at sea level), I chose the 3-day Mount Toubkal tour plus an extra night in Imlil before the climb, and it worked very well for me. On the first hiking day I joined a 2-day group: we were 17 people with 3 guides. I really enjoyed the atmosphere with the group during the trail and at the refuge. On summit day, my guide Houssien and I started at 4 a.m. I decided to keep a steady pace, so we continued separately from the faster group. This worked perfectly for me, especially because it was my first experience using crampons on snow. Houssien supported me throughout the whole trek, not only with his mountain skills but also with his personality. I would describe him as the perfect mountain man: calm, genuine, experienced, and with a great sense of humour. He carried everything that might be needed in his backpack. Even though I had two pairs of gloves with me, my hands froze near the summit, and he immediately gave me proper mountaineering gloves. On the third day we returned to Imlil in the morning and reached Sidi Chamharouch in only two hours. I strongly recommend the 3-day option. In my opinion it is not only about strength or hiking ability. I am used to hiking and have done many excursions in Italy and Ireland (Alps, Apennines, Wicklow Mountains, Kerry, etc.). Even though I had never been above 4000 metres before, I had already completed technically more difficult trails with mud and slippery grass. The real challenge on Toubkal is the altitude, and I believe having more time helps you enjoy the mountain much more safely and peacefully.

Did the 5 Day/ 4 Night Trek

Tips I booked two tours with Omar Adventures. The first was 12 days touring the country with a friend, and the second was the 5 day/ 4 night Mount Toubkal trek on my own, with a small group. It was the highlight of Morocco and so much fun! It’s a strenuous trek you need to be in good physical shape for. Stunning views, and our professional guide Ayoub was the best. Ayoub speaks 4 languages fluently, and is also learning German. He set the pace for us to adjust to the altitude and summit Mount Toubkal comfortably. The cook prepared delicious meals for us. Several people in other groups doing the two-day trek turned back, but our group took our time; we made it and had the summit and hike back to the refuge to ourselves. The Imlil valley and the Toubkal National Park are so beautiful, beyond words. Some tips: I was so focused on the first part of the trip, I hadn’t entirely prepared for the trek. The trek from Imlil Valley up to the Refuge is a lot of elevation gain, from about 6,000 feet (1829 M) to the refuge at 10,521 ft (3,207 M). The trek from the refuge to the Toubkal summit at 13,671 ft (4,167 M) was all snow (April after a heavy winter). Omar had everything I needed; jacket, gloves, poles, plus for rent were crampons, helmet, and ice axe. Our guide Ayoub lent me his gaiters. Some tips: Remember to bring cash in dirham for gear (about 400-500 dirham) and to tip the cook and guide. Huts along the way sold freshly squeezed orange juice for 20 dirham (about $2 USD). Wear good boots/ trekking shoes, dress in layers, bring sunglasses. Altitude medication helped me a lot. A good knapsack with waistband support is recommended. The Refuge is charming but it is primitive lodging. TP is offered for sale. There is no hot water or heat, other than a wood stove which may not be burning. The Refuge dorm sleeps about 25 people side by side, so the room stays warm. If I were to do it again I would bring my silk sleeping bag liner; sleeping bags are rented. I used my scarf to cover my pillow (no pillow case). There were no sheets or duvets, blankets are provided. The trek is rewarding and the views are gorgeous. It was so worth it, memories of a lifetime.

Amazing experience, lovely people, but you need to be in good shape. It's quite challenging but not technically.

Mount Toubkal Trek-2 day: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Marrakech.

How much does Mount Toubkal Trek-2 day cost?

+

Prices start at $150 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Marrakech usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Mount Toubkal Trek-2 day take?

+

Plan for about 48 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Marrakech is not rushed.

Is Mount Toubkal Trek-2 day worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 76 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 77 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Marrakech, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Mount Toubkal Trek-2 day?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Mount Toubkal Trek-2 day suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 8. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 48-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Mount Toubkal Trek-2 day?

+

Around 27 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Marrakech can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Marrakech and add a light layer if any part of the 48-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Mount Toubkal Trek-2 day start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Marrakech within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Marrakech?

+

On Outty we rank every Marrakech experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Agafay Desert Quad Bike Camel Ride and Dinner Show, Best Marrakech to Fes Sahara Desert Tour with Camp & Camel Trek, 3 Day Marrakech to Merzouga Desert Tour Camel Rides and Overnight. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Marrakech?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Marrakech?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
