Do not recommend - find a different tour provider.
Trek itself was very nice, I can highly recommend, but please do not book it with Bali Volcano Jeep. Find a different provider. Good: Trekking guide lady was very nice and helpful. Bad: 1. driver arrived 30 minutes late with complete radio silence, we were in the dark if we should wait or just go to sleep. 2. Jeep did not seem particularly safe - you have to ride in the back, wihtout proper seating or safety measures (head is above the roof). No cover too, so offroad trip in the drizzle was very uncomfortable. 3. No safety breefing was provided at any time. 4. After the trek driver headed straight to the hotel instead of hotsprings and we had to remind him about the rest of the activities. 5. AT THE END OF THE TRIP some guy called us claiming to be the manager, haggling us to pay extra because our hotel was not in their ususal pickup zone. Nowhere during the booking or whatsapp confirmation was this ever mentioned. We provided the hotel name in advance. 6. Same guy and the driver also complained that we stopped for breakfast even though we skipped hot springs and coffe plantation and simply stopped for half an hour on the way to the hotel WITH NO DETOURS WHATSOEVER. We finished by 9:30 even though according to the itinerary we still had time till 11:30

A must-do in Kintimani
Definitely a must for any one visiting Kintimani! Communication was great between us and the tour operator. Picked up on time and got to experience a great Jeep ride up Mt Batur. We then had a 45-minute hike up to the summit. We were then served breakfast and took in the spectacular sunrise. Took a thousand pics while taking in the epic spectacle. After the hike, we got to do a 4 wheel drive session through the black lava fields. Hands down, a super fun day out!!

A peaceful place with spectacular views
We stayed in Kasmi mount batur for one night. It was amazing. The views are spectacular and the staff was very welcoming and kind. Special thanks to Kadek who helped us during the time we were there. Nothing was too much trouble for him. recommend this place 💯

Highlight of our trip
Awesome experience! So glad they were able to accommodate our last minute booking. From our driver Nata, to our guide Putu, we were taken care of every step of the way. Our sleepy 3 year-old needed help climbing the volcano so Putu carried him up the majority of the way. Not only carrying him, but talking to him trying to get him to laugh and smile. My son still talks about his friend Putu weeks later. The journey up was just incredible, the views are breathtaking and seeing the sunrise from the summit is a bucket list item for sure. Our driver Nata went out of his way to ensure we made it to our next destination. He drove us an additional 1.5 hours, helped us find the last fast boat of the day to the Gilis, and even texted later to make sure we made it ok. Wonderful experience, exceptional people! Definitely recommend!

Great trip
Great tour visiting the black sand via 4x4, jungle trek via 4x4, hot spring and then lunch which was great and a great view high up looking at Mt Batur. Lastly we visited a coffee plantation. Overall a great tour, well organised and a great addition to our honeymoon. Thanks Andy

Why this scores 55
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Mount Batur Trekking by 4wd Jeep: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Ubud.
How much does Mount Batur Trekking by 4wd Jeep cost?
+
Prices start at $75 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Ubud usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Mount Batur Trekking by 4wd Jeep take?
+
Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Ubud is not rushed.
Is Mount Batur Trekking by 4wd Jeep worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 55 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.3/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Ubud, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Mount Batur Trekking by 4wd Jeep?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Mount Batur Trekking by 4wd Jeep suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Mount Batur Trekking by 4wd Jeep?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Ubud can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Ubud and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Mount Batur Trekking by 4wd Jeep start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Ubud within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Ubud?
+
On Outty we rank every Ubud experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Mount Batur Jeep Adventure, Best of Ubud Full-Day Tour with Jungle Swing, Full-Day Tour to Water Temples and UNESCO Rice Terraces in Bali. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Ubud?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Ubud?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
