About this experience
Start from your hotel at - 19.00pm : drive around 4 hours to the port cross by ferry then from Ketapang port at Java drive around 1.5 hour. Our Experienced local Guide will escort for about 1.45 minutes to reach the top of Mt Ijen . The route is well maintained in good condition and other views of rounding volcanoes and luxurious vegetation will make your journey more memorable. From the crater rim, we will take you down to see the blue fire right on the edge of the acidic lake (temperature of the lake : +- 40°c; Ph: 0,5 ; max depth:+-200m). The laker is also the source for the river Banyupahit, resulting in highly acidic and metal-enriched river water which has a significant detrimental effect on the downstream river ecosystem. 10/10 unforgettable experience
We recently did the Ubud to Kawah Ijen trip and it exceeded all expectations from start to finish. Our driver, Dek, made the journey so easy — smooth, relaxed, and well organised the whole way. When we reached the ferry crossing, a porter helps you cross the ferry. On the other side, our second driver took us up to the mountain and was brilliant — friendly, safety-conscious, and clearly experienced with the route up to Ijen. They help you get the medical certificate on the way and that's all organised too and takes five minutes. A highlight was our guide Sugi, who led us on the trek up the mountain to see the famous blue flames. Sugi was knowledgeable, patient, and made sure we felt safe and supported the entire way, especially navigating the trickier sections in the dark near the gas and flames. Seeing the blue flames up close was unforgettable, and Sugi's guidance made the whole experience even more special. The blue flames are unreal, and also seeing the gas lume in the dark was intimidating at first but really cool when you're close. The sunrise was probably the best view I have ever seen. You see the sunrise break over the horizon to reveal the blue coast and jungle shoreline and then you just turn to your right and you can see the acidic lake, sulfur gas plume, and volcanoes in the background with the moon still out. It's unreal. From the driver, to the porter, to the second driver, and finally Sugi's expert guiding — every part of this trip was seamless and well looked after. Couldn't recommend it more highly. Note - it's obviously exhausting by the end of it since you're coming from Ubud and it's a 22 hour round trip and around 24,000 steps, but if you're up for adventure it's worth it.
Response from the operator: Dear Rhys, Thank you so much for shared your experience at Mount Ijen tour from Bali that's was amazing volcano tour you did from Bali to Ijen Volcano. Best Regard, Wayan

Amazing Ijen Hike
Our tour guide Jai was amazing . He was energetic and brought our spirits up during the hike . He was very attentive to all of us and helped us during the hike whenever there were slippery moments as it was raining during our hike . His energy made the hike a lot more easier and fun! The drivers were also amazing and there was a driver from UBUD to the port , and then another driver to the health certificate and the beginning of the hike of ijen. All the drivers were so lovely and friendly with a lovely smile on their face . Jai also stopped at many picture points and would take lots of pictures and videos for us without asking. Thank you for this amazing experience , I would definitely recommend if you’re fit and healthy !

Do it!!!
We had the sweetest driver Dewa, who took us from Canggu to the harbor. Awesome guy with awesome taste in music. Zai was our guide for the hike up Ijen, and he was also amazing. He took sooo many pictures and videos for us and made a video at the end compiling everything. He’s got TALENT. If you’re wanting to have your own personal professional photographer, go with Zai! Highly recommend this tour and these lovely people.

Why this scores 78
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Mount Ijen Crater Tour From Ubud Bali: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Seminyak.
How much does Mount Ijen Crater Tour From Ubud Bali cost?
+
Prices start at $115 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Seminyak usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Mount Ijen Crater Tour From Ubud Bali take?
+
Plan for about 24 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Seminyak is not rushed.
Is Mount Ijen Crater Tour From Ubud Bali worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 78 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 64 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Seminyak, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Mount Ijen Crater Tour From Ubud Bali?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Mount Ijen Crater Tour From Ubud Bali suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 24-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Mount Ijen Crater Tour From Ubud Bali?
+
Around 22 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Seminyak can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Seminyak and add a light layer if any part of the 24-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Mount Ijen Crater Tour From Ubud Bali start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Seminyak within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Seminyak?
+
On Outty we rank every Seminyak experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Best of Bali Waterfalls: Tibumana, Tukad Cepung and Tegenungan, Bali Instagram Tour: The Most Scenic Spots, Ubud Hot Springs and Waterfall Private Guided Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Seminyak?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Seminyak?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
