What you'll see and do

  1. Maras Moray Tours

On this day, we will visit beautiful Inca villages with their colonial houses. During this unique and enjoyable journey, we will appreciate the treasures that this sacred land holds. We will start the day by visiting the experimental agricultural terraces of Moray. These are a group of circular terraces that can reach depths of up to 150 meters. According to historians, these constructions served as an important Inca agricultural laboratory since their platforms were built with their respective irrigation canals, each of which had a microclimate. What stands out the most is the difference in average annual temperature between the top and bottom of the depressions, with a difference of up to 15°C.

Great experiences led by the guides.

Great experience. The guide knew many stories, and the conversation was very good.

Response from the operator: ¡Gracias por su comentario! 😊 Moray y las Salineras de Maras tienen mucho por descubrir, y una buena conversación durante el tour ayuda a conectar mejor con la historia y la cultura del lugar. Nos alegra que haya sido una gran experiencia.

This was a major disaster - BUYER BEWARE!!

We were instructed to be in our hotel lobby at 7:30a for our Moray and Maras Salt Mines tour. And man came in, asked for us by name, looked at your tickets and took us to a bus. The bus made a few more hotel stops and then set off. The guide mentioned going to "Scared Valley" a few times. Once, I stopped her and said "that's not what we are doing." She smiled, and said yes we were on the right tour, and then showed me that her paper had my name on it. The bus continued on and she mentioned going to Ollantaytambo that day. Again, we spoke up. Having already been to Ollantaytambo and Machu Picchu, we knew this is not what we had planned for. Again, the guide insisted we were on the right bus. Knowing how far away this was, I asked what time this bus was returning to Cusco. She said 8p (we were expecting 230p!) and this time I said stop the bus this is not right. Finally she pulled over, and called the tour company. FINALLY!!! she discovered I was right and they had taken us to the wrong tour (again: not our fault, our names were listed on their papers---definitely the mistake of this tour company). The guide insisted we go to Ollantaytambo to which we said NO we are not doing this, because we already did that. So, she opened the door, and left TWO WOMEN on the side of the road IN THE RAIN in an area where there was no cell service. It had been over an hour since our original pickup. Eventually, we get back to Cusco and over TWO HOURS after being picked up, we were united with the correct tour. We were the only people on the bus who needed to buy and entry ticket to Moray, and the line was very long....so we completely missed that tour guide explaining to the group what Moray was. At Maras - we finally had the same experience as the rest of the group. The tour company finally admitted they completely screwed up. To rectify the problem, the tour company attempted to send two stuffed animals to our hotel, which we declined to accept. We have taken up the matter with Viator and our credit card company (providing PLENTY of pictures and screenshots of the WhatsApp messages with this tour company). BOOK ANOTHER COMPANY!!!

Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed account of your recent experience. We have read your review with great concern and, first and foremost, we would like to offer our deepest and most genuine apologies. We fully acknowledge that there was a serious breakdown in our logistics and internal communication during your pickup. We are acutely aware that leaving two passengers on the roadside was an unacceptable situation, completely contrary to the standards of safety and hospitality that we strive to uphold. We deeply regret the stress and frustration this caused you both. While we attempted a gesture of reconciliation at the time, we understand it was nowhere near sufficient to compensate for the disruption of your day. Your honesty is invaluable to us; situations like this force us to immediately overhaul our passenger verification protocols and staff training to ensure such an error is never repeated. We respect your decision to pursue this matter through the appropriate institutional channels and are cooperating fully to ensure the process is resolved fairly. Our priority is the satisfaction of those who trust us to show them our country, and we are sincerely pained that we failed to meet your expectations in this instance. We wish you only the best in your future travels. Sincerely, Perú Grand Travel 🇵🇪

Moray and Maras Salt Mines Full Day Tour - Small Groups: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cusco.

How much does Moray and Maras Salt Mines Full Day Tour - Small Groups cost?

+

Prices start at $45 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cusco usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Moray and Maras Salt Mines Full Day Tour - Small Groups take?

+

Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cusco is not rushed.

Is Moray and Maras Salt Mines Full Day Tour - Small Groups worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 75 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 71 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cusco, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Moray and Maras Salt Mines Full Day Tour - Small Groups?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Moray and Maras Salt Mines Full Day Tour - Small Groups suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 2. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 6-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Moray and Maras Salt Mines Full Day Tour - Small Groups?

+

Around 25 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cusco can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cusco and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Moray and Maras Salt Mines Full Day Tour - Small Groups start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cusco within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Cusco?

+

On Outty we rank every Cusco experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Sacred Valley Full Day Tour, Peruvian Cooking Class Cocktails and Market Tour in Cusco, Cusco: Rainbow Mountain & Red Valley Premium Day Trip with Meals. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cusco?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cusco?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
