You will head off into the Vale of York, learning about life in Yorkshire as you pass through the villages of Strensall, Sheriff Hutton and Hovingham. If you prefer to spend a little less time in Whitby and take the opportunity of travelling by steam train on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway at our special discounted rate, you have the option of boarding the 2.00pm train from Whitby for the 45-minute moorland rail journey through Grosmont to Goathland (Hogsmeade Station in the Harry Potter movies), where you will re-join the Minicoach. This option is paid locally on the day with no need to book ahead.

A nice day outing from York!
This was a good full day tour. Our guide Chris was friendly, knowledgeable and a good driver. He gave us a lot of interesting history about the towns, buildings, land ownership, flora and fauna. We also had great weather! Communication from the company was good as there was a late change to the pick up area.

Excellent day trip from York
A really enjoyable day trip from York travelling through the beautiful North York Moors before arriving at Whitby. The trip was extremely well organised with a couple of stops to allow time for visits to cafes for tea or coffee.There was ample time in Whitby to explore and enjoy lunch and as an added bonus it was possible to go on the NYMR steam train at a discounted rate from Whitby to rejoin the minibus at Goathland station. Our driver was very friendly and helpful ensuring that everything went smoothly and gave an informative commentary as we drove through the beautiful countryside. The small size of the minibus made for a more intimate atmosphere and also meant it could go along the small country roads to make the most of the stunning views.

Best tour of Yorkshire Moors!
The day was dreary and Rainy but our tour guide Mark made it memorable. He was knowledgable and well traveled so he could easily engage with each traveller. The sites were amazing but Mark added all the color to make it even more interesting. We have been on many tours but Mark and Best of Britain offer more personalised service including adding extra stops and impromptu photo opps because he could see we were interested. I highly recommend Best of Britain for Yorkshire tours!

Don’t Take This Tour!
I want to request a refund of my payment for 2 $218. 00 for our booking of the tour of Whitby and the Moors reference 139-533-6463. I tried to get more info about the tour prior to leaving, and reached out by calling Trip Advisor and the Tour Operator, Best of Britain ., but the tour operator did NOT respond. So the tour did not go well, we were not picked up at the designated spot, the pick up spot was not clearly indicated, so we were the last ones on the fully booked van. I told the driver I had a back injury and asked him to see if anyone would be willing to change seats because of my injury, which he REFUSED to do, thus we were stuck in the very back seat on the Van, where we could feel every bump on the road. It was a painful and miserable ride! Because of our seats on the van, every time we had to exit, we had to go the length of the van to exit. At the midpoint of the trip, some left to attend another activity, leaving their seats completely empty. When we reboarded the van, and tried to sit in those empty seats, the driver made us move to the back, stating that because someone else had sat there earlier, we had no right to sit in those empty seats! The actions of the van driver/guide and lack of contact by the operator ruined this experience for us. Therefore, we are requesting a full refund.

For the benefit of future guests, we would like to clarify that your booking information provided the specific departure point as outside the Dean Court Hotel, Duncombe Place, York, YO1 7EF, near York Minster, at 9.00am. We are sorry that you nevertheless had difficulty locating us and were unable to reach us beforehand. Seating on our small-group tours is on a first come, first served basis and we had not been advised before the tour that you had a back injury or required a particular seat for medical reasons. Had we known in advance, we would of course have done our best to make suitable arrangements. When you raised this after boarding, the other guests had already chosen their seats and our Driver-Guide advised that you were welcome to ask if another guest would be willing to swap. We are sorry that your experience left you feeling this way. Following your tour, we contacted you directly and specifically invited you to let us know if there was anything we could have done to make your day better. Unfortunately, we did not hear from you, so we were unaware of how strongly you felt. We are genuinely disappointed that we did not have the opportunity to speak with you and try to resolve your concerns before receiving this review.
