Great Family Outing
From booking to the last moments of the trip Ramon took great care of our family. Not only did he engage the wide range of ages in our multigenerational group with interesting historical and geological information, but he also helped bring together the entire group for a memorable day. The tour exceeded my expectations.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! It was truly a pleasure spending the day with your family and sharing Montserrat’s history, geology, and landscapes with such a great multigenerational group. I’m especially happy to hear that everyone felt engaged and that the experience brought the whole family together. Creating memorable moments like this is exactly what we hope to achieve at Catalan Trails. Thank you for choosing us to be part of your time in Barcelona, and I hope we have the chance to welcome you back for another adventure in Catalonia someday! Warm regards, Ramon & the Catalan Trails team

Great time with Catalan Trails
Highly recommend this excursion! Our guide, Eugenia, was wonderful. She expertly blended the history of the monastery with great insights into the region's unique geology and local plant life. The cable car was a fun way to get down the mountain. The transport was top-notch as well; the van was incredibly comfortable, and the driving was smooth and safe the entire way. Due to the heat and fire restrictions, the hike was short, but provided a us a nice, unique view. All in all, it was a perfect day out! We are a family of 4 and all had a great time!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your fantastic review and recommendation! We’re delighted to hear that your whole family had such a great day exploring Montserrat with Eugenia. We’ll be sure to share your kind words with her! We’re especially happy that you enjoyed the combination of the monastery’s history, Montserrat’s fascinating geology and local plant life, as well as the cable car ride and comfortable journey from Barcelona. Although the heat and fire restrictions meant we had to shorten the hiking portion for safety reasons, we’re glad you were still able to enjoy a beautiful walk and discover a unique viewpoint of the mountain. Thank you for choosing Catalan Trails for your family adventure. We hope to welcome you back to explore more of Catalonia with us someday! Warm regards, The Catalan Trails team

Wonderful for hiking lovers & adventurers
If you're looking to escape the city for an adventure, I highly recommend the Montserrat hiking tour with the Catalan Trails company. Our guide, Burnat, was like a walking history book and storyteller—extremely knowledgeable about the area's history, Catalan culture, geology, trees and local plants. He also knew the best rock-climbing spots, hidden shortcuts, and the most spectacular viewpoints along the trail. The hike itself was perfect: not too easy and not too difficult—I'd describe it as a moderate-level hike. If you choose the optional climb to the summit, it's absolutely worth the effort. Overall, it was an unforgettable hiking experience!

Why this scores 70
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Montserrat Monastery and Hiking Experience with Cable Car: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Barcelona.
How much does Montserrat Monastery and Hiking Experience with Cable Car cost?
+
Prices start at $85 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Barcelona usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Montserrat Monastery and Hiking Experience with Cable Car take?
+
Plan for about 6.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Barcelona is not rushed.
Is Montserrat Monastery and Hiking Experience with Cable Car worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 70 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 13 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Barcelona, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Montserrat Monastery and Hiking Experience with Cable Car?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Montserrat Monastery and Hiking Experience with Cable Car suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 10. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 6.5-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Montserrat Monastery and Hiking Experience with Cable Car?
+
Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Barcelona can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Barcelona and add a light layer if any part of the 6.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Montserrat Monastery and Hiking Experience with Cable Car start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Barcelona within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Barcelona?
+
Barcelona's Gaudí sites are capacity-limited and the official timed tickets go first, so most of the market is resellers with a guide attached. We weight those heavily on whether the guide is an architecture specialist. Beyond Gaudí, the tapas crawls in Gràcia and the Montserrat day trips carry the highest rankings in the city. On Outty we rank every Barcelona experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Gràcia Tapas and Vermouth Crawl, Costa Brava Tour: Kayak, Snorkel & Cliff Jump from Barcelona, Costa Brava Tour: Kayak, Snorkel, Cliff Jump & lunch Small Group. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Barcelona?
+
May, June, September and October. Sagrada Família light is best mid-morning. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Barcelona?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
