2. Brera District

   Brera is a quarter of Milan, located a 10-minute walk from the Duomo. The name comes from the medieval Italian word "braida" or "brera", which goes back to the Lombard "brayda", which means "land cleared of trees". Around the year 900, the Brera district was located directly outside the city walls of Milan. The quarter is clearly defined by the streets of Pontaccio, Fatebenefratelli, Dei Giardini, Monte di Pieta, Ponte Vetero and Mercato. This quarter is home to the Brera Academy of fine arts and the Brera Pinacoteca (an art gallery of 38 rooms), which has created a kind of Bohemian atmosphere, which is why the Brera quarter is sometimes called the "Montmartre of Milan".

5. Chiesa Santa Maria del Carmine

   The Church of Santa Maria de Carmine was built over two centuries, from 1268 to 1476. The Church was built with elements of Gothic, Baroque and Romanesque style. In 1771, there was a huge fire that damaged most of the Basilica. Only some parts remain intact – the Corsini Chapel and the Brancacci Chapel. The fire did not affect such works of art as marble sculptures by Soderini Piero, as well as frescoes by staggi. The Corsini chapel was built with Baroque elements under the direction of pier Francesco Silvana, who invited the famous painter Giordano to paint the dome, and Giovanni Domenico was invited to paint the ceiling, which was made in the Rococo style.

6. Milan

The old bar is already over a hundred years old - it opened in 1911, and since then has been incredibly loved by the public. The bar was frequented by world-famous celebrities, for example, Ernest Hemingway liked to have a drink or two here. 8. Orto Botanico di Brera

   The Brera Botanical garden, located in the historical center of Milan, not far from the famous Palazzo Butera, which houses an art gallery, Braidense library, Academy and Observatory, extends over an area of about 5,000 square meters. The creation of this oasis is very attractive, because it does not have the character of a real Botanical garden, given the small size of the area and the presence of trees that create shade, commissioned by the Empress Maria Theresa of Austria, who laid the Foundation of it in 1774. The garden project was entrusted to father Fulgenzio Whitman, but it originally belonged to the Jesuits, and which was later subjected to the elimination of existing trees, the construction of a new greenhouse. Taking an example from the Hortus OEconomicus typology, similar to the Collegium Theresianum in Vienna, he wanted to make it suitable for growing trees and herbs for use in medicine and pharmaceuticals.
