Nowadays, its magnificent interior hosts Milano’s Municipal museums and other cultural institutions, but the castle grounds are fascinating in themselves, with large courtyards, massive walls, moat, towers (entrance is free excluding the museums), crenulated battlements and the green expanse of Parco Sempione. The castle’s origins date back to 1358 - 1368 when the first nucleus was known as the Castello di Porta Giovia and was used as a residence but mainly as a military defensive complex by Galeazzo II Visconti, Duke of Milano. Over the centuries, the Castello expanded until it became one of the main military citadels in seventeenth-century Europe. Take a look from the outside and go on with the rest of the tour!

Great expereince in spite of scheduling snafu

Paola was a terrific guide. She was filled with interesting information, anecdotes and humor, and tailored our tour to our interests and physical stamina, given the hot weather. She even gave us restaurant and museum recommendations for the next day. She made our time in Milan special. The tour was supposed to include entrance to The Last Supper, and the ad created the impression that this would be at the end of the tour, which was obviously ideal. But 72 hours before the tour, the the tour operator informed us that our Last Supper viewing would be 6 hours before the tour, at a time we weren't even going to be in Milan. So we missed out on that.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your feedback and for the 5-star review. We’re very happy to know that, despite the scheduling issue, Paola made your time in Milan such a special experience. We’re sorry the timing for The Last Supper created inconvenience and did not match what you expected from the listing. Access is extremely limited and strictly timed, but we understand the frustration and will review how this is communicated so future guests have clearer expectations before booking. Overpriced not worth 800 euros for 2 people for 2.5 hours

Tour extremely misleading—for the scala and sforza castle all we saw was the exterior as we walked by it—expected far more for. 800euros. Very misleading. We did spend 15 minutes in the last supper and some time in the duomo. We did not see much of Milan and was very very disappointed. Dont do this tour. You could go yourself, see more and spend far less. Viator should be ashamed charging 800 euros. -this may be my last experience with Viator—-they are ripping off customers

Response from the operator: We are sorry to read that you were disappointed with the experience, although we must respectfully clarify several points for future guests. On the booking page where this reservation was made, all inclusions and exclusions are clearly stated. The internal visit of La Scala Theatre and Sforza Castle is clearly listed as not included in the dedicated exclusions section. In the itinerary section, both attractions are marked as “pass by,” and in the individual description of each stop it is also clearly stated that there is no internal visit to these attractions. Regarding The Last Supper, the 15-minute viewing time is not determined by CityEyes or by Viator. This is the official time allowed for all visitors by Santa Maria delle Grazie, and no tour operator or private guide can extend it. We also wish to clarify that the tour does include many of Milan’s main highlights. The price reflects a private guided experience, entrance tickets to the included sites, access to The Last Supper, which is extremely limited and difficult to secure, and the work of a full operations team managing guides, tickets, logistics, itineraries, and assistance before and during the experience. After more than 20 years of providing private tours, and after dozens of 5-star reviews for this specific experience, it is disappointing to read our service described as “ripping off customers,” especially when all details were available before confirmation and the tour was delivered according to the published itinerary. That said, we are sorry the tour did not meet your expectations. We will take your comments into consideration as we continue reviewing and improving the way our experiences are presented and communicated. The CityEyes Team

    Outstanding Experience!

Outstanding tour guide, Gianluca! Gianluca gave us lots of history and information about the sights we visited. He was able to personalize it for us so that we could stop and learn more about what appealed to us! I would highly recommend this activity for those who want a personalized experience instead of a cookie cutter tour!

Response from the operator: Thank you for choosing CityEyes and for recommending Gianluca. We’re very happy the experience felt personal rather than “cookie cutter,” exactly as a private tour should. Grazie! Gianluca, and the CityEyes Team

Milan: Duomo, Scala, Sforza Castle and Last Supper Private Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Milan.

How much does Milan: Duomo, Scala, Sforza Castle and Last Supper Private Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $344 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Milan usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Milan: Duomo, Scala, Sforza Castle and Last Supper Private Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Milan is not rushed.

Is Milan: Duomo, Scala, Sforza Castle and Last Supper Private Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 66 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 59 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Milan, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Milan: Duomo, Scala, Sforza Castle and Last Supper Private Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Milan: Duomo, Scala, Sforza Castle and Last Supper Private Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Milan: Duomo, Scala, Sforza Castle and Last Supper Private Tour?

    +

Around 21 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Milan can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Milan and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Milan: Duomo, Scala, Sforza Castle and Last Supper Private Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Milan within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Milan?

    +

On Outty we rank every Milan experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Gnocchi, Pasta, Tiramisù and Wine Class, Authentic Pasta & Tiramisu Cooking Class in Milan, Milan's Hidden Gems: Unique Bike Tour (ENG, NL). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Milan?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Milan?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
